ఓట్ల కోసం.. కోట్లు కుమ్మరిస్తోన్న నేతలు!
సార్వత్రిక ఎన్నికల వేళ దేశ వ్యాప్తంగా ఎన్నికల అధికారులు నిర్వహించిన తనిఖీల్లో ఇప్పటి వరకు పట్టుబడ్డ నగదు, మద్యం, ఇతర వస్తువుల మొత్తం విలువ రూ.1862 కోట్లుగా తేలింది. రూ.509 కోట్ల నగదును స్వాధీనం చేసుకున్నారు అధికారులు. ఈ తనిఖీల్లో గుజరాత్ మొదటి స్థానంలో నిలిచింది. రెండో స్థానంలో తమిళనాడు, మూడో స్థానంలో ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ ఉన్నాయి.

పట్టుబడ్డ నగదు
సార్వత్రిక ఎన్నికల్లో ఓటర్లను ప్రలోభ పెట్టేందుకు తరలిస్తోన్న నగదు, బంగారం, వెండి, మాదకద్రవ్యాలు, మద్యం భారీస్థాయిలో పట్టుబడ్డాయి. గతంలో ఎన్నడూ లేని విధంగా దేశవ్యాప్తంగా ఇప్పటి వరకు రూ.509 కోట్ల నగదును స్వాధీనం చేసుకున్నారు అధికారులు. రూ.181 కోట్ల విలువైన మద్యం, రూ.718 కోట్లు విలువ చేసే మాదకద్రవ్యాలు తనిఖీల్లో పట్టుబడ్డాయి. ఓటర్లను ప్రలోభపరిచేందుకు పంపిణీ చేయాలనుకున్న రూ. 418 కోట్లు విలువ చేసే బంగారం, వెండి వస్తువులను ఎన్నికల అధికారులు గుర్తించారు.
ఈ తనిఖీల్లో అగ్రస్థానంలో నిలిచింది గుజరాత్. ఇక్కడ అత్యధికంగా మాదకద్రవ్యాలు దొరికాయి. వీటి విలువ రూ.500 కోట్లు ఉండవచ్చని అధికారుల అంచనా.
తమిళనాడు రెండోస్థానంలో ఉంది. రూ.401.46 కోట్లు విలువ చేసే మద్యం, మాదకద్రవ్యాలను పట్టుకున్నారు అధికారులు. ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ లో ఇప్పటి వరకూ 116 కోట్ల నగదు, 100 కేజీలకు పైగా బంగారం, 300 కేజీల వెండి కలిపి మొత్తం విలువ రూ.190 కోట్లుగా తేలి మూడో స్థానంలో ఉంది.
ఆ తర్వాతి స్థానాల్లో రూ.167 కోట్లతో పంజాబ్, రూ.151 కోట్లతో ఉత్తరప్రదేశ్, రూ.97 కోట్లతో మహారాష్ట్ర ఉన్నాయి. అత్యల్పంగా రూ.44 లక్షలతో పుదుచ్చేరి చివరి స్థానంలో నిలిచింది.
మొత్తం 7 దశల్లో దేశవ్యాప్తంగా పోలింగ్ జరుగనున్నందున ఈ మొత్తం భారీగా పెరిగే అవకాశాలున్నాయని అధికారులు అంచనా వేస్తున్నారు.

STORYLINE:
German golfing great Bernhard Langer said on Monday that he expected this year's US Masters to be an open contest and didn't rule out the possibility that Tiger Woods could win a fifth green jacket, despite the efforts of the authorities at Augusta to make the course 'Tiger-proof'.
"They planted 5,000 trees, which made the golf course a lot tighter and Tiger wasn't always known to hit it very, very straight, so that probably hurt him for the last few years," Langer said, but added, "He's fit, he's healthy, he's eager to play and there are some courses he plays extremely well, so I think he will have a chance."
Langer also picked out Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler and Jon Rahm as contenders for the championship, but didn't think former world number one Jordan Spieth would do well at Augusta following an alarming loss of form.
