"From March 28 to 29, Vice Premier Liu He co-chaired the eighth round of China-U.S. high level trade negotiations in Beijing with U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. The two sides discussed the relevant texts of the agreement and made new progress, which created favorable conditions for the ninth round of high-level economic and trade consultations between China and the United States."

The progress made in the eighth round of high-level trade negotiations between China and the United States created favorable conditions for the two sides to proceed to their next-round talks, which is currently underway in Washington D.C., Chinese Ministry of Commerce Spokesman Gao Feng said on Thursday.
Gao made the statement in answering a media question over the outcome of the two countries' eighth round of trade talks at a news briefing in Beijing.
"From March 28 to 29, Vice Premier Liu He co-chaired the eighth round of China-U.S. high level trade negotiations in Beijing with U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. The two sides discussed the relevant texts of the agreement and made new progress, which created favorable conditions for the ninth round of high-level economic and trade consultations between China and the United States," said Gao.
Liu, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chief of the Chinese delegation to the China-U.S. comprehensive economic dialogue, was invited to visit the United States this week for the ninth round of high-level economic and trade talks in Washington D.C.
