STORYLINE:
The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC), the body responsible for delivering the infrastructure vital to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, have announced the completion of turf laying at the Al Wakrah Stadium.
The 40,000 capacity stadium is due to be completed in the first half of 2019 as part of Qatar's preparations for the tournament, which runs from 21st November to 18th December 2022.
The team broke the record for the fastest turf laying of a football pitch, taking just 9 hours 15 minutes.
This beat the previous record of 13 hours 15 minutes held by the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha.
The Al Rayyan Stadium will be the fourth stadium to be completed, after the Khalifa International and Al Wakra and Al Bayt stadiums which are near completion.
