పోర్టు పనులు పలు విడతలుగా చేపట్టనున్నారు. తొలి విడత పనులు కేవలం 18 నెలల వ్యవధిలో పూర్తి చేయాలని నవయుగ నిర్మాణ సంస్థకు ప్రభుత్వం ఆదేశాలు జారీ చేసింది. పోర్టు కోసం ఎన్నో దశాబ్దాలుగా పోరాడిన న్యాయవాదులు, రైతులు, ప్రజా సంఘాలు సంతోషం వ్యక్తం చేస్తున్నారు.
