LEADIN:
At Britain's biggest wholesale fruit and flower market traders are wary of how Brexit will affect the traffic of perishable goods.
Half of all the UK's fruit and veg is imported, thirty percent of the imports are from European Union, according to government figures,  and border delays could damage trade.
STORYLINE:
Apples, asparagus and oranges - just three of the types of fruit and vegetables that are traded at the New Covent Garden Market every day.
A stone's thrown from the iconic Battersea Power Station, the market is the largest wholesaler of its kind in the UK with 175 fresh food and flower businesses under its roof.
Here are just some of the 2500 employees who work overnight into the early morning to ensure that retailers have the freshest produce daily.
The market has been trading since 1670, first in Covent Garden - hence the name  - and now in its present location just south of the River Thames.
According to the National Farmers Union (NFU), the UK imports nearly twice as many agri-food products from EU countries as it exports.
Harry Bridge is a fruit and vegetable trader at New Covent Garden Market.
He says that his hopes are that after Brexit, trading remains the same and fears that prices will go up and business will quieten down.
Some traders at the market are optimistic about the fruit and vegetable trade post-Brexit.
Nicholas O'Mahoney is a produce wholesaler.
He says that he thinks that prices will come down because EU and British wholesalers rely on one another.
New Covent Garden Market is also home to an expansive flower trade which supplies 75% of London florists.
Everything from seasonal flowers, plants and foliage can be found here every morning from 4.a.m.
Allan Martin works at Dennis Edwards Flowers.
He says that business is currently slow because of the economic uncertainty.
He notes that in the current circumstances, flower sales are the first to suffer because they are considered to be luxury items.
"Well it's quiet at the moment because of the uncertainty, people don't want to part with their money so consequently, when it's done and dusted and it's all agreed,  then hopefully people can free up their money and start spending their money on flowers, which is a luxury and we are the first to get hit " says Martin.
The flower industry too has been vocal about its concerns over Brexit.
The British Florist Association (BFA) issued a statement last year.
In it, it called on the UK government to give the British florist industry certainty about future policy and trading relationships after Britain leaves the EU on 29th March.
But officials at New Covent Garden Market say that they are confident that fruit, vegetables and flowers won't disappear from UK market stalls and shop shelves.
Zeenat Anjari is the Business Development Manager at the market.
She says that traders have good relationships with their EU counterparts and that they will get their products when they are needed - with the only uncertainty being over there is a day or two delay at the border.
"The feeling is, I think, positive because many of the traders have excellent relationships with their suppliers and they've been talking to suppliers and they know that, the traders know that they will get the product when they need it. It's whether there will be one day's delay or two days delays because of the bureaucracy of the border, that's the uncertainty."
