6. SOUNDBITE (French): Michel Barnier, EU Chief Brexit Negotiator:
"What can happen from now on, at this moment of impasse? As I said, we had important meetings last week, obviously with the British Prime Minister, and also with the Taoiseach, Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar. We have agreed to convene new talks, in order to do our best to get out of this impasse, but we won't do it by re-opening the Withdrawal Agreement, which is not open for any sort of re-negotiation."

8. SOUNDBITE (French): Michel Barnier, EU Chief Brexit Negotiator:
"At this moment as I am talking to you we haven't been informed of a request for an extension of the negotiation, an extension of article 50. And from what I understood from the Prime Minister (Theresa May) last week it is not her intention to ask for it. Should this request be made it will have to examined, and not by me but by the heads of states and of governments, who will have to take an unanimous decision on this question. And it is likely that if this question were to be asked - and Xavier Bettel can say this better than me - they will have to ask the questions 'but to do what?' and 'for how long'?"

10. SOUNDBITE (French): Michel Barnier, EU Chief Brexit Negotiator:
"I'll say this as I think, I think that Mr. Corbyn (his suggestion) is interesting, both for its tone and for its substance. I heard that Theresa May said herself that she wanted to open a dialogue with the opposition, and that is all I can say. But something has to move, on the British side. Clarity, a movement must occur in the United Kingdom."

12. SOUNDBITE (French): Xavier Bettel, Prime Minister of Luxembourg
"We never pushed for Brexit. We never asked for Brexit. It was the choice of the British government to hold a referendum, it was a choice - that we respect - from the British voters, so we cannot say that today the responsibility of this is on the European Union side. The responsibility started in London, and it remains today in London, and the will to find a deal is also in London. So let's stop making people believe that the 27 other European capitals have a will to make the deal fail. This was a British initiative and today, forgive me for saying that but we have more a dis-united Kingdom than a United Kingdom and this puts us in a situation where we don't really know what to expect tomorrow."

STORYLINE:
European Union Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier is urging Prime Minister Theresa May to spell out how she plans to win over Parliament, less than two months before Britain leaves.
Barnier insisted the proposed legally-binding divorce agreement between the UK and the EU cannot be renegotiated.
Asked about the ongoing negotiations in the United Kingdom, he also said that he found Jeremy Corbyn proposals interesting.
"I think that Mr. Corbyn is interesting, both for its tone and for its substance. I heard that Theresa May said herself that she wanted to open a dialogue with the opposition, and that is all I can say. But something has to move, on the British side. Clarity, a movement must occur in the United Kingdom"
EU and UK officials are discussing what concessions the Europeans could make to help May push a deal through Parliament by Brexit day on March 29.
Xavier Bettel, the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, also insisted on the fact that the European Union should not be blamed for the ongoing situation.
"We never pushed for Brexit. We never asked for Brexit" Bettel insisted. "So let's stop make people believe that the 27 other European capitals have a will to make the deal fail. This was a British initiative and today, forgive me for saying that but we have more a dis-united Kingdom than a United Kingdom and this puts us in a situation where we don't really know what to expect tomorrow" he added.
