இமயமலையின் காரகோரம் மலைப் பகுதியில் அமைந்துள்ள சியாச்சின் பனிப்பாறை உலகில் மிக உயரமான பகுதியாகும். இந்த பகுதி கடல் மட்டத்திலிருந்து 6 ஆயிரம் மீட்டர் உயரத்தில் அமைந்துள்ளது. இதனால், இப்பகுதியில் ஆக்ஸிசன் குறைவாக இருக்கும். இது பூமியின் மிக உயரமான போர்க்களம் ஆகும். இப்பகுதியில் பணியிலிருந்த அக்னி வீரர் அக்ஷய் லக்ஷ்மணன் உயிர் இழந்துள்ளார் என அதிகாரிகளால் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது.

இந்திய ராணுவ பிரிவான ஃபயர் அண்ட் ஃபியூரி கார்ப்ஸ் (Fire and Fury Corps) தனது "X" பக்கத்தில் வெளியிட்டுள்ள பதிவில், அக்னி வீரர் கவாட் அக்ஷய் லக்ஷ்மணனைப் பிரிந்து வாடும் குடும்பத்தினருக்கு இரங்கல் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர். மேலும், ஃபயர் அண்ட் ஃபியூரி கார்ப்ஸ் வீரர்கள் அணிவகுப்பு மரியாதை மற்றும் அக்னி வீரரின் தியாகத்திற்கு மரியாதையைச் செலுத்துகின்றனர்.

இந்திய இராணுவம் தனது "X" பக்கத்தின் பதிவில், "ஜெனரல் மனோஜ் பாண்டே COAS மற்றும் இந்திய இராணுவத்தின் உயர் அதிகாரிகள் தரப்பில் அக்னி வீரர் (ஆப்பரேட்டர்) கவாட் அக்ஷய் லக்ஷ்மணனின் உயர் தியாகத்திற்கு மரியாதை செலுத்துகின்றனர். இறந்த ராணுவ வீரரின் குடும்பத்திற்கு இந்திய இராணுவம் உறுதுணையாக நிற்கும்" எனத் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர்.

இதே போல் இமயமலையிலுள்ள சியாச்சின் பனிப்பாறையில் ஜீன் மாதம் ஏற்பட்ட தீ விபத்தில் ராணுவ வீரர் ஒருவர் உயிரிழந்தார் மற்றும் மூன்று வீரர்கள் காயம் அடைந்தனர். இந்த தீ விபத்தில் மருத்துவ அதிகாரி கேப்டன் அன்ஷுமன் சிங் பலத்த தீக்காயங்களால் உயிரிழந்தார். மேலும், மூன்று பேர் இரண்டாம் நிலை தீக்காயங்களால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டனர். என இந்திய ராணுவத்தின் செய்தித் தொடர்பாளர் தெரிவித்து இருந்தது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.
