లండన్‌లో జరుగుతున్న గ్రాండ్స్లామ్ వింబుల్డన్ టోర్నీలో స్విస్‌ మాస్టర్‌ రోజర్‌ ఫెదరర్‌ రెండో రౌండ్లోకి ప్రవేశించాడు. మంగళవారం జరిగిన పురుషుల సింగిల్స్‌ తొలి రౌండ్లో రెండో సీడ్‌ ఫెదరర్‌ 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-2తో హారిస్‌ (దక్షిణాఫ్రికా)ను ఓడించాడు. తొలి సెట్లో అనూహ్యంగా ప్రత్యర్థి నుంచి పోటీ ఎదుర్కొన్న రోజర్‌.. 3-6తో సెట్‌ను చేజార్చుకున్నాడు. ఆ తర్వాత ప్రత్యర్థికి అవకాశం ఇవ్వలేదు. మూడు సెట్లలో వరుసగా రెండేసిసార్లు ప్రత్యర్థి సర్వీస్‌ బ్రేక్‌ చేసిన ఫెదరర్‌.. ముందంజ వేశాడు.

ఐదో సీడ్‌ డొమినిక్‌ థీమ్‌ (కెనడా) తొలి రౌండ్లోనే ఇంటిముఖం పట్టాడు. అతను 7-4, 1-7, 3-6, 0-6తో సామ్‌ క్వెరె (అమెరికా) చేతిలో ఓడాడు. కిర్గియోస్‌ (ఆస్ట్రేలియా), నిషికోరి (జపాన్‌), సోంగా (ఫ్రాన్స్‌) రెండో రౌండ్‌ చేరారు. మరో మ్యాచ్‌లో మూడో సీడ్‌ నాదల్‌ 6-3, 6-1, 6-3తో సుగిటా (జపాన్‌)పై నెగ్గాడు.

మహిళల విభాగంలో..

మహిళల సింగిల్స్‌లో టాప్‌సీడ్‌ బార్టీ (ఆస్ట్రేలియా) ముందంజ వేసింది. తొలి రౌండ్లో ఆమె 6-4, 6-2తో జెంగ్‌ (చైనా)ను ఓడించింది. సెరెనా 6-2, 7-5తో మాంటికోన్‌ (ఇటలీ)పై నెగ్గగా... కెర్బర్‌ (జర్మనీ) 6-4, 6-3తో మరియా (జర్మనీ)ని ఓడించింది. కొంటా (బ్రిటన్‌), స్టీఫెన్స్‌ (అమెరికా), క్విటోవా (చెక్‌ రిపబ్లిక్‌) ముందంజ వేశారు.

"It's very sad. It's a phenomenon that started two years ago. It's disgraceful. I'm going to maybe, and I'm looking at it very seriously, we're doing some other things, as you probably know, like some of the very important things that we're doing now. But we're looking at it very seriously because you can't do that. You can't have what's happening where police officers are getting sick just by walking the beat. I mean they're getting actually very sick, where people are getting sick, where the people living there are living in hell, too. Although some of them have mental problems where they don't even know they're living that way. In fact perhaps, they like living that way. They can't do that. We cannot ruin our cities. And you have people that work in those cities, they work in office buildings, and to get into the building, they have to walk through a scene that nobody would have believed possible three years ago. and this is the liberal establishment. This is what I'm fighting. They, I don't know if they're afraid of votes. I don't know if they really believe that this should be taking place. But, it's a terrible thing that's taking place. And we may be, you know I had a situation when I first became president, we had certain areas of Washington D.C. where that was starting to happen. And I ended it very quickly. I said you can't do that. When we have leaders of the world coming in to see the president of the United States, and they're riding down the highway. They can't be looking at that. I really believe that it hurts our country. They can't be looking at scenes like you see in Los Angeles and San Francisco. San Francisco, I own property in San Francisco. So I don't care, except it was so beautiful. And now areas that you used to think as being you know really something very special. You take a look at what's going on with San Francisco, it's terrible. So, we're looking at it very seriously. We may intercede. We may do something to get that whole thing cleaned up."
STORYLINE:
During a cable news interview in Osaka, Japan over the weekend, President Donald Trump blamed "the liberal establishment" for squalor in major U.S. cities, such as New York, Los Angeles and San Franciso.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson compared the cleanliness of Osaka, Japan, which hosted the Group of 20 Summit with major U.S. cities, said it's "very different from our cities."
The president declared the U.S. problem "disgraceful," and said, without providing any specifics, that the federal government "may intercede." "We may do something to get that whole thing cleaned up."
The president didn't give details, but he declared that there are police officers who are getting sick simply walking the beat. And he said there are office workers who "have to walk through a scene that nobody would have believed possible three years ago."
"This is the liberal establishment," Trump said.
"This is what I'm fighting."
