Chinese President Xi Jinping's message of green and sustainable development during his keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the world's largest international horticultural exhibition in Beijing Sunday evening, has resonated with the leaders and officials in attendance.
In his speech, President Xi expressed his hope that the green development concept embodied by the expo park would be spread to "every corner of the world."
He put forward a five-point initiative: pursuing harmony between human and nature, prosperity based on green development, a passion for nature-caring lifestyles, a scientific spirit in ecological governance and joint efforts to tackle environmental challenges.
Attendees at the opening ceremony hailed Xi's speech and China's determination in building the future by eco-friendly development that is in accordance with the rule of nature.
"The speech of the president was inspiring. It was a message to the world that China cares about the future," said Pakistani Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
