అధికరణ 370 రద్దు తర్వాత కశ్మీర్ లోయలో 5,161 మందిని ముందస్తు అరెస్టు చేసినట్లు పార్లమెంట్లో కేంద్రం వెల్లడించింది. ఇందుకు సంబంధించిన వివరాలను కేంద్ర హోంశాఖ సహాయ మంత్రి కిషన్రెడ్డి రాజ్యసభకు తెలిపారు.

కశ్మీర్కు స్వయం ప్రతిపత్తి కల్పించే ఆర్టికల్ 370రద్దు తర్వాత రాష్ట్రంలో ఎటువంటి హింసాత్మక చర్యలు జరగకుండా 5,161మందిని అదుపులోకి తీసుకున్నట్లు కేంద్రం వెల్లడించింది. ఈ వివరాలను కేంద్ర హోంశాఖ సహాయ మంత్రి కిషన్రెడ్డి రాజ్యసభకు తెలిపారు.
"ఆర్టికల్ 370 రద్దు నేపథ్యంలో రాష్ట్ర భద్రతకై ఇబ్బందులు తలెత్తకుండా ఆగస్టు 4వ తేదీ నుంచి ఇప్పటి వరకు 5,161మంది అదుపులోకి తీసుకున్నాం. దురాక్రమణదారులు, కవ్వింపు చర్యలకు పాల్పడేవారు, రాజకీయ నాయకులు, వేర్పాటువాదులను నిర్బంధంలోకి తీసుకున్నాం. ప్రస్తుతం 609 మంది మాత్రమే అదుపులో ఉండగా.. వీరిలో 218 మంది రాళ్ల దాడులకు పాల్పడినవారు ఉన్నారు."

He was one of our team at our consulate in Hong Kong. At the same time, I've already summoned the Chinese ambassador, made it clear that we believe that the claims that Simon has made are credible and they amount to mistreatment amounting to torture, which is a clear violation of international law, and under the UN Convention Against Torture there is an obligation on China, which is a state part of that convention, to investigate and hold to account anyone responsible for those kind of actions. That is what we've made clear we expect from the Chinese and they've undertaken to go away and investigate."

But we make no apology for nailing the nonsense that Jeremy Corbyn put about and tried to put about in the debate last night and being very clear about our plans, which is that we've got 34 billion pound investment for the NHS that we want to put in place, but we can't get on to any of the other things that voters want to hear us talking about unless we get Brexit delivered. And Jeremy Corbyn nine times refused to answer the question of whether he's in for or against leaving the EU. We're in three years out from the referendum, and that's the choice at this election."

"My heart goes out to the family, I saw them in person, I'm a father myself, I can't imagine what it must be like every day to suffer the loss of a son and I'll do everything I can and the Foreign Office is doing everything we can to clear the path for justice for Harry's family and to allow the police and CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) to do their job. And they are doing their job, and we will support it in any way that we can. It is, of course, as you will know, the representative of the family is suing the Foreign Office and they've talked about litigation strategy in the US as well. They're crowdfunding for that purpose and we just cannot responsibly allow ourselves to be sued without taking the normal action in defending ourselves when the position that the representative and that family pursuing in law is wrong, and I say that and it pains me because I want to give them the solace of justice in this case, but we also need to protect the taxpayers money in the legal position that we set out, which is the correct one. So it's very difficult to do, but that's the position that we're in. And, you know, will continue to do everything we can, as I said, to clear the obstacles in the path to justice being done and to allow the police and the CPS to do their job."

STORYLINE:
British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab has summoned the Chinese ambassador in London to express the government’s outrage and demand an investigation after a former employee of the British Consulate in Hong Kong says he was detained and tortured by Chinese secret police.
Simon Cheng said in an online statement and media interviews that he was hooded, beaten, deprived of sleep and chained to an X-shaped frame by plainclothes and uniformed agents as they sought information on activists involved in the protests and the role they believed Britain played in the demonstrations.
In an interview with Sky News on Wednesday, Raab said he had made it clear to China’s ambassador to Britain, Liu Xiaoming, that the government believed Cheng's claims were credible and amounted to mistreatment and torture in violation of international law.
Raab said "they have undertaken to go away and investigate," but a Chinese foreign ministry spokesman said at a daily briefing on Wednesday that Liu would "by no means accept the so-called concerns or complaints raised by the British side."
Chinese police in August announced Cheng’s release after 15 days of administrative detention but gave no details of the reasons behind his detention.
Raab also commented on the controversy after Britain's Conservative Party was accused of trying to deceive voters by changing the name of its press office Twitter channel to "factcheckUK" during Tuesday's night's debate between Prime Minister Boris Johnson and opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn.
Rebranded to resemble a neutral fact-checking account, it posted a series of tweets supporting Johnson during Tuesday’s debate. It later reverted to the name “CCHQ Press” and restored the party logo to its profile.
Twitter pledged to take “decisive corrective action” against similar strategies in the future.
Raab said the party would take Twitter's advice on board but defended its actions saying "we make no apology for nailing the nonsense that Jeremy Corbyn put about and tried to put about in the debate last night and being very clear about our plans."
The Foreign Secretary also answered a question about the lawsuit that the family of 19-year old Harry Dunn, killed in an accident, was bringing against the Foreign Office.
Dunn's motorcycle collided with a car allegedly driven by an American diplomat's wife outside a British air force base in southern England used by the U.S. military.
The woman left Britain shortly after the crash, though police released a statement saying she had previously told them she had no plans to depart.
Dunn's parents have been pressing for the woman to return to Britain and traveled to Washington in October seeking to have her diplomatic immunity lifted.
The family is also planning to pursue litigation in the United States.
Raab said he empathised with th family as a father himself but added "we just cannot responsibly allow ourselves to be sued without taking the normal action in defending ourselves when the position that the representative and that family pursuing in law is wrong."
