STORYLINE:
Peru's most powerful opposition leader Keiko Fujimori remained silent on Monday during questioning on a corruption probe against her involving Brazilian mega-builder Odebrecht.
On her Twitter account, Fujimori said she had made the decision to remain silent "after living in the flesh the abuses and excesses, product of absence of justice."
It wasn't clear if she would also remain silent in future proceedings.
Fujimori also said on Twitter that the prosecutor building a case against her had "completely lost objectivity."
The two-time presidential candidate is behind bars as she is investigated for allegedly laundering Odebrecht money for her 2011 campaign.
Prosecutor José Domingo Pérez confirmed her refusal to testify. He said the law protected the right to remain silent.
Meanwhile, Fujimori's supporters threw water bottles at the prosecutor as he exited the jail where the former first daughter is being held.
Odebrecht has admitted in US court filings that it paid 800 million US dollars in bribes to officials across Latin America, including 29 million in Peru.
