STORYLINE:
The Taiwanese Foxconn company, the world's largest electronics manufacturer, is to proceed with plans to construct a plant in Wisconsin building high-tech display screens.
The confirmation comes from Foxconn Chairman Terry Gou after talks with US President Donald Trump, shifting course on Friday after claims that the company might cut down on the scope of its investments.
Gou said he was honoured that US President Donald Trump called him on the phone on February 1.
According to Gou, he and Trump had a discussion about the future economy and US-China trade, as well as investment in the US.
Gou stated that "investing in the US is totally a correct decision that meets the needs of the economy's future path for our company".
Last year, the company had said that it was planning to build a facility in Wisconsin, but comments by a Foxconn official this week denying these plans cast doubt on the future of the project.
