मी दिवसभर फिल्डिंग करायचो - चौधरी यांनी सीएसके टीव्हीला सांगितले ( Mukesh Chaudhary told CSK TV ) की, “मी लहान होतो तेव्हा मोठे लोक मला फलंदाजी किंवा गोलंदाजी करू देत नसत. पण मी दिवसभर फिल्डिंग करायचो. माझ्या घरची परिस्थिती फारशी चांगली नव्हती. माझ्या गावात क्लब किंवा काहीही नव्हते. त्यामुळे या सगळ्याची सुरुवात टेनिस बॉलने झाली. चौथ्या इयत्तेत, माझ्या वडिलांनी मला एका बोर्डिंग स्कूलमध्ये टाकले, कारण माझ्या गावात शिकण्याची फारशी सोय नव्हती. त्यानंतर मी बास्केटबॉल, व्हॉलीबॉल, हॉकी यासारखे इतर खेळही करून पाहिले. पण क्रिकेट हा नेहमीच माझा आवडता खेळ होता.

पुण्यातील बोर्डिंग स्कूल - चौधरी लहान मुलापासून किशोरवयीन होत गेला, पुण्यातील बोर्डिंग स्कूलमध्ये ( Boarding School in Pune ) स्थलांतरित होऊन शैक्षणिक क्षेत्रात चांगली कामगिरी करण्याच्या आशेने त्याच्या क्रिकेटच्या महत्त्वाकांक्षा वाढल्या. त्यानंतर नववीत मी पुण्यात एका बोर्डिंग स्कूलमध्ये आलो. येथे मला काही सामने खेळण्याची संधी मिळाली. नंतर ज्युनियर कॉलेजमध्ये मी जास्त सामने खेळलो आणि मग मी हळू हळू प्रगती केली, पण माझ्या अभ्यासावर त्याचा परिणाम झाला.

हे फक्त माझ्या भावालाच माहीत - तो पुढे म्हणाला, मी माझ्या आई-वडिलांना सांगितले नाही, पण मी क्रिकेटवर लक्ष केंद्रित करायला सुरुवात केली. माझे नाव वर्तमानपत्रात आल्यावर मी त्यांना सांगितले. तेव्हा माझे वडील म्हणाले ठीक आहे, पण अभ्यास चालू ठेव, कारण बरेच लोक क्रिकेट खेळतात. मी रणजी करंडक (महाराष्ट्रासाठी) खेळल्यानंतर दोन वर्षांनी त्यांना बरे वाटले आणि त्यांनी मला पाठिंबा दिला. माझी राज्यासाठी निवड होईपर्यंत, मी गंभीरपणे क्रिकेट खेळतो हे फक्त माझ्या भावालाच माहीत होते. माझ्या पालकांना माहित नव्हते.
पुण्यात एकटा असताना बहिणीने मला खूप साथ दिली -चौधरीच्या मुंबईविरुद्धच्या चमकदार कामगिरीमुळे त्याच्या वडिलांना नक्कीच अभिमान वाटला असेल. चौधरी म्हणाला, माझा प्रवास खडतर होता. पण माझ्या घरच्यांनी मला साथ दिली. मी पुण्यात एकटा असताना माझ्या बहिणीने मला खूप साथ दिली. मी त्याच्याशिवाय काहीही चांगले करू शकलो नसतो. माझी निवड झाल्यावरही त्यांनी मला पुढच्या टप्प्यांचा विचार करून चांगले काम करण्यास सांगितले होते.
