देहरादून - अफगाणिस्तान आणि आयर्लंड यांच्यात राजीव गांधी आंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट मैदानावर खेळल्या गेलेल्या एकमेव कसोटी सामन्यात अफगाणिस्तानने ७ गडी राखून विजय मिळवला. कसोटी क्रिकेटमध्ये अफगाणिस्तानचा हा पहिलाच विजय असल्याने अफगाण क्रिकेटमध्ये या विजयाला ऐतिहासीक महत्व प्राप्त झाले आहे.

या सामन्यात नाणेफेक जिंकून प्रथम फलंदाजी करणाऱ्या आयर्लंडचा पहिला डाव १७२ धावांवर आटोपल्यानंतर फलंदाजीस आलेल्या अफगाणिस्तानने आपल्या पहिल्या डावात ३१४ धावा केल्या होत्या. आपला दुसरा डाव खेळण्याठी मैदानात आलेल्या आयर्लंडचा संघ २८८ धावा करू शकल्याने अफगाणिस्तानला विजयासाठी १४७ धावांचे आव्हान मिळाले होते.
आयर्लंडकडून देण्यात आलेल्या या आव्हानाचा पाठलाग करताना अफगाणिस्तानच्या संघाने ३ गडी गमावत विजय साजरा केला. रहमत शाह (७६) तर इहसनुल्लाह नाबाद ६५ धावा करत अफगाणिस्तानला विजय मिळवून दिला.
