2018ൽ ഗോൾഡ് കോസ്റ്റിൽ ദീപിക പള്ളിക്കലിനൊപ്പം മിക്‌സഡ് ഡബിൾസ് വെള്ളി നേടിയ ഘോഷാലിന്‍റെ രണ്ടാമത്തെ കോമൺവെൽത്ത് ഗെയിംസ് മെഡലാണിത്

ബിർമിങ്ഹാം : കോമൺവെൽത്ത് ഗെയിംസിൽ ഇന്ത്യക്ക് ഒരു വെങ്കലം കൂടി സമ്മാനിച്ച് സൗരവ് ഘോഷാൽ. സ്ക്വാഷിൽ ചരിത്രത്തിൽ ആദ്യമായാണ് ഇന്ത്യൻ താരം വ്യക്തിഗത മെഡൽ സ്വന്തമാക്കുന്നത്. 2018 ൽ മിക്‌സ്‌ഡ് ഡബിൾസിൽ വെള്ളി മെഡൽ നേടിയ താരം കൂടിയാണ് 35 കാരനായ സൗരവ് ഘോഷാൽ.

വെങ്കല മെഡൽ പോരാട്ടത്തിൽ 2018 ലെ സ്വർണ മെഡൽ ജേതാവായ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് താരം ജെയിംസ് വിൽസ്‌ട്രോപ്പിനെതിരെ നേരിട്ടുള്ള സെറ്റുകൾക്ക് ആയിരുന്നു സൗരവിന്‍റെ വിജയം. 11-6 ന് ആദ്യ സെറ്റ് നേടിയ സൗരവ് രണ്ടും മൂന്നും സെറ്റിൽ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് താരത്തിന് ഒരവസരവും നൽകിയില്ല. 11-1, 11-4 എന്ന സ്കോറിന് ആയിരുന്നു രണ്ടും മൂന്നും സെറ്റുകൾ സൗരവ് നേടിയത്.

ഭാരോദ്വഹനത്തിൽ ഇന്ത്യക്ക് പത്താം മെഡൽ : കോമൺവെൽത്ത് ഗെയിംസിൽ ഭാരോദ്വഹനത്തിൽ മെഡൽ വേട്ട തുടർന്ന് ഇന്ത്യ. പുരുഷന്മാരുടെ 109 കിലോഗ്രാമിന് മുകളിലുള്ള വിഭാഗത്തിലാണ് ഗുർദീപ് സിങ് വെങ്കലം നേടിയത്. ഇതോടെ 2018 ൽ ഭാരോദ്വഹനത്തിൽ ഒമ്പത് മെഡൽ നേടിയ ഇന്ത്യ ഇത്തവണ ആ റെക്കോർഡ് തിരുത്തി.

മൊത്തം 390 കിലോഗ്രാം ആണ് ഗുർദീപ് സിങ് ഉയർത്തിയത്. 167 കിലോഗ്രാം സ്‌നാച്ചിൽ ഉയർത്തിയ ഗുർദീപ് ക്ലീൻ ആന്‍റ് ജർക്കിൽ 223 കിലോഗ്രാം ഉയർത്തി. മൊത്തം 405 കിലോഗ്രാം ഉയർത്തിയ പാകിസ്ഥാൻ താരം മുഹമ്മദ് നൂഹ് ദസ്‌തകിർ ഭട്ട് സ്വർണവും 394 കിലോഗ്രാം ഉയർത്തിയ ന്യൂസിലാൻഡിന്‍റെ ഡേവിഡ് ആൻഡ്രൂ ലിറ്റി വെള്ളിയും നേടി.

ജൂഡോയിൽ തുലിക മാനിന് വെള്ളി : ജൂഡോയിൽ മൂന്നാം മെഡൽ സമ്മാനിച്ച് തുലിക മാൻ. വനിതകളുടെ 78 കിലോഗ്രാം വിഭാഗത്തിലാണ് തുലിക മാൻ വെള്ളി മെഡൽ നേടിയത്. സ്‌കോട്ടിഷ് താരം സാറ അഡ്‌ലിങ്‌റ്റനോട് ഫൈനലിൽ 23 കാരിയായ തുലിക മാൻ പരാജയപ്പെടുകയായിരുന്നു. സെമിയിൽ ന്യൂസിലാൻഡ് താരം സിഡ്‌നി ആൻഡ്രൂസിനെ ആയിരുന്നു ഇന്ത്യൻ താരം തോൽപ്പിച്ചത്.
