ആയിരത്തിലധികം സഹപ്രവർത്തകരുടെ പിന്തുണ ലഭിച്ചതും ഇന്ത്യയിലുടനീളമുള്ള കോൺഗ്രസിന്‍റെ നിരവധി അഭ്യുദയകാംക്ഷികളുടെ പ്രതീക്ഷകളും അഭിലാഷങ്ങളും വഹിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞതും താൻ ഒരു ഭാഗ്യമായി കാണുന്നു എന്ന് തരൂർ ട്വിറ്ററിൽ കുറിച്ചു. ഈ മാസം 17നാണ് തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് നടന്നത്. ഇന്ന് ഫലപ്രഖ്യാപനത്തിൽ കർണാടകയില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള നേതാവായ മല്ലികാർജുൻ ഖാർഗെ 7897 വോട്ടുകൾ നേടി കോൺഗ്രസ് അധ്യക്ഷനായി തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു.
1072 വോട്ടുകളാണ് ശശി തരൂർ നേടിയത്. 416 വോട്ടുകൾ അസാധുവാക്കപ്പെട്ടു. പോൾ ചെയ്‌ത മൊത്തം വോട്ടിൽ 12 ശതമാനം വോട്ടുകളാണ് ശശി തരൂരിന് ലഭിച്ചത്.
