Millions of Chinese citizens have been flocking to tourist destinations around the country to spend the week-long Spring Festival holiday.
Taking children to museums to experience new technologies has become a popular trend for the holiday travel.
The Shanghai Science and Technology Museum received over 10,000 tourists just after opening on Friday, which led staff members to take measures to limit the tourist flow. The special exhibition areas like the Zodiac exhibits for the Year of the Pig and the intelligent robots attracted many children who praised the magic of science.
The Shanghai Natural History Museum was also crowded. The number of visitors exceeded 5,000 within two hours after its doors were opened on Friday, the fifth day of the holiday.
In other areas of China, parents brought their children to the Gansu Science and Technology Museum in northwest China's Lanzhou City, where the scientific exhibits aroused their curiosity and interest.
Throughout China, the tourist flow has peaked in many famous scenic areas.
In Zhangjiajie City of central China's Hunan Province, the Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park received about 40,000 visitors alone on Friday.
To ensure the visitors' safety in mountainous areas with complex topography, the park stopped selling tickets in advance.
The life-sized Terra-Cotta Warriors unearthed from the tomb of First Emperor of the Qin Dynasty (B.C.221-B.C.206) in Xi'an received a record 330,000 tourists in the first five days of the holiday.
Over 400 security guards were dispatched to maintain order at the scenic spot and to ensure the safety of the tourists.
Meanwhile, by Friday, a staggering 29 million visitors had traveled to southwest China's Yunnan Province, with the number of tourists reaching about 7.23 million on Friday alone; this represented a year-on-year growth of 22.13 percent.
In Qingdao City in east China's Shandong Province, a tourist resort called Pichai Courtyard attracted the attention of many tourists. There you can taste local specialties, like grilled seafood and appreciate the folk performances including Shandong Kuaiban and Lyuju, a kind of Chinese opera that originated from Shangdong.
The tourist flow volume reached 10,000, which is double the figure for ordinary days.
Tourists also flocked to the time-honored Shaolin Temple in central China's Henan Province to appreciate the Kung Fu performances there.
Shaolin Temple, as the cradle of Chinese martial arts, is the spiritual and physical home for monks who practice Kung Fu. The splendid performance presented at the 2019 China Media Group Spring Festival Gala aroused people's interest in going to the temple.
By the end of Friday, this scenic spot had greeted 250,000 tourists, up 20 percent from last year. About 50,000 visitors went there on Friday alone.
