STORYLINE:
Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi said on Tuesday that his country could help return foreign Islamic State group (IS) fighters to their home countries, following the liberation of the group's final stronghold in Syria.
The fighters were handed over to Iraqi authorities after they were captured by US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) during fighting in Baghouz.
Abdul-Mahdi was speaking to journalists during his weekly news conference in Baghdad.
"Iraq should fulfil its duties and obligations", Abdul-Mahdi said.
Last week, he said that most militants remaining in Syria were Iraqi nationals.
Iraqi security forces have also claimed that they have received 330 captured militants since February 21.
