STORYLINE:
Pakistan's top diplomat skipped a meeting of foreign ministers from the world's leading Islamic organisation in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday to protest against the host's decision to invite India, a non-member.
India was represented at the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) gathering by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
In her remarks to ministers, Swaraj appeared to criticise OIC member Pakistan.
"We must tell the states who provide shelter and funding to the terrorists to dismantle the infrastructure of (those) terrorist camps and stop providing funding and shelter to the terror organisations based in that country," she said.
Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said he wouldn't attend the OIC in the UAE capital of Abu Dhabi because UAE's Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan refused to withdraw the invitation to India.
Qureshi said India was neither a member of the 57-nation organisation nor had observer status.
The escalation between the nuclear-armed rivals over the disputed region of Kashmir has brought them close to the brink of an all-out conflict.
