STORYLINE :
The leader of Lebanon's Hezbollah militant group on Tuesday said that US President Donald Trump's decision on the Golan Heights proved that "resistance, resistance, resistance" was the only way to retake lands occupied by Israel.
Hassan Nasrallah said that the muted response of Arab countries to Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel last year had encouraged a similar declaration on the Golan.
And he warned that if the Arab countries did not take a resolute stance on the latest developments, Trump might come out and be "supportive of the Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank too".
Nasrallah added that the US, as "absolute supporter of Israel", could not play a part in the Middle East peace process, because it had directed "a fatal blow, not hard but fatal" to this process.
Trump on Monday formally recognised Israel's sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights, reversing more than a half-century of US policy in the Middle East.
