ବିଶନ ସିଂହ ବେଦୀ ୧୯୪୬ ମସିହା ସେପ୍ଟେମ୍ବର ୨୫ ତାରିଖରେ ଅମୃତସରରେ ଜନ୍ମଗ୍ରହଣ କରିଥିଲେ । ସେ ଜଣେ ବାମହାତୀ ଚତୁର ସ୍ପିନର ଭାବେ ବିଶ୍ବ କ୍ରିକେଟ୍‌ରେ ବେଶ ପରିଚିତ ଥିଲେ । ସେ ୧୯୬୬ ମସିହାରେ ଅନ୍ତର୍ଜାତୀୟ କ୍ରିକେଟ୍‌ରେ ଡେଭ୍ୟୁ କରି ୧୯୭୭ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଭାରତୀୟ ଦଳରେ କ୍ରିକେଟ୍ ଖେଳିଥିଲେ । ଏହା ଭିତରେ ସେ ୨୨ଟି ଟେଷ୍ଟ୍‌ ମ୍ୟାଚରେ ଭାରତ ପାଇଁ ଅଧିନାୟକ ମଧ୍ୟ ରହିଥିଲେ । ଅନେକ ସମୟରେ ସେ ଏକାକୀ ଭାରତକୁ ବହୁ ମ୍ୟାଚ୍‌ ଜିତାଇଛନ୍ତି । ନିଜର କ୍ୟାରିୟର ଭିତରେ ବିଶନ ସିଂହ ବେଦୀ ୬୭ଟି ଟେଷ୍ଟ ମ୍ୟାଚ୍ ଖେଳି ୨୬୬ଟି ୱିକେଟ୍ ଅକ୍ତିଆର କରିଥିଲେ । ଏହା ବ୍ୟତୀତ ପ୍ରଥମ ଶ୍ରେଣୀ କ୍ରିକେଟରେ ସେ ୧୫୬୦ ୱିକେଟ୍ ହାସଲ କରିଥିଲେ । ତେବେ ପଞ୍ଜାବରୁ କ୍ରିକେଟ୍ କ୍ୟାରିୟର ଆରମ୍ଭ କରିଥିବା ଏହି କିମ୍ବଦନ୍ତୀ କ୍ରିକେଟର ଜଣକ ଭାରତୀୟ ଟିମ୍ ସହିତ ଦିଲ୍ଲୀ ଟିମ୍ ତରଫରୁ ଘରୋଇ କ୍ରିକେଟ୍ ମଧ୍ୟ ଖେଳିଛନ୍ତି । ଅନ୍ତର୍ଜାତୀୟ କ୍ରିକେଟରେ ସେ ମୋଟ ୧୨ ବର୍ଷ ଧରି ବେଶ ଦବଦବା ରଖିଥିଲେ ।
