Headlines: Try this wooden toothbrush and paper made straw by tribals
Today, the plastic menace is affecting the world and to fight with it many initiatives are been taken by people around the world. An environmentalist and artist, Nitin Vas hailing from Mangaluru, has found an alternative to plastic.
As we know that recycling of plastic alone is not sufficient to tackle the plastic menace. The need of the hour is not only to find the alternatives to plastic but also to implement them in our lifestyle.
Mangaluru-based environmentalist and artist Nitin Vas has prepared alternative materials to plastic. He has introduced environment-friendly wooden toothbrushes with the cooperation from tribals.
Vas said, ”Lakhs of people use plastic toothbrushes every day. This is indeed adding to the already alarming plastic menace. With proper care, a natural wooden toothbrush will last as long as any plastic toothbrush. I thought of introducing wooden toothbrushes which do not affect the environment. Similarly, we have introduced straws made from paper.”
This is indeed a notable step to tackle the plastic menace and pave way for a sustainable and plastic-free future.

Headlines: Try this wooden toothbrush and paper made straw
The plastic menace today affects entire world and many initiatives are being taken by people around the world to fight this menace.
A Mangaluru based environmentalist and artist, Nitin Vas has decided to promote an alternative to a plastic material we all of us use everyday morning.
It is not sufficient to find alternative to plastic we use in day-to-day life but using them diligently makes all the difference. Almost everyone use a plastic brush daily morning and Vas has come up with a wooden brush in place of plastic.
Vas stumbled upon an NGO working among the tribals in Assam and these tribals have mastered the art of making wooden brushes from the barks of teakwood. The bristles are degradable nylon material which is environmental friendly.
"The brush is made of teak wood bark while the bristle is made of degradable nylon making this brush completely environmental friendly", the environmentalist said.
"Lakhs of people use plastic toothbrushes every day. This is indeed adding to the already alarming plastic menace. With proper care, a natural wooden toothbrush will last as long as any plastic toothbrush", he said.
Vas is also promoting straws made of paper in place plastic ones. "These paper straws are as good as plastic ones. They withstand even if they are soaked in water for 30 minutes and they can be discarded to decay in nature", he reasoned.
This is indeed a notable step to tackle the plastic menace and pave way for a sustainable and plastic-free future.
