ऑस्ट्रेलियन ओपनमध्ये सुमित नागलचा मोठा उलटफेर, 27व्या मानांकीत खेळाडूचा पराभव करत दुसऱ्या फेरीत धडक

Sumit Nagal : सुमित नागलनं जागतिक क्रमवारीत 27 व्या स्थानी असलेल्या अलेक्झांडर बुब्लिकचा पराभव करत ऑस्ट्रेलियन ओपनच्या दुसऱ्या फेरीत प्रवेश केला. रमेश कृष्णन याच्यानंतर ग्रँडस्लॅममध्ये सीडेड खेळाडूला पराभूत करणारा नागल हा पहिला भारतीय खेळाडू ठरला आहे.

मेलबर्न Sumit Nagal : भारतीय टेनिसपटू सुमित नागलनं मंगळवारी (16 जानेवारी) ऑस्ट्रेलियन ओपनच्या तिसर्‍या दिवशी कझाकिस्तानच्या अलेक्झांडर बुब्लिकचा 6-4, 6-2, 7-6 अशा सरळ तीन सेटमध्ये पराभव करत मोठा उलटफेर केला. हा नागलचा टॉप 50 खेळाडूविरुद्धचा पहिलाच विजय आहे. जागतिक क्रमवारीत बुब्लिक 27 व्या स्थानी आहे. यासह नागलनं कारकिर्दीत केवळ दुसऱ्यांदा ग्रँडस्लॅमच्या दुसऱ्या फेरीत प्रवेश केला.

बुब्लिक फेव्हरेट होता : या सामन्यात बुब्लिक फेव्हरेट होता. मात्र नागलनं उल्लेखनीय संयम आणि लवचिकतेच्या प्रदर्शन करत बाजी मारली. नागलनं त्याच्या सर्व्हिसद्वारे बुब्लिकवर दबाव आणला आणि त्याला चुका करण्यास भाग पाडलं. सामन्याचा पहिला सेट अत्यंत चुरशीचा झाला. दहाव्या गेमपर्यंत दोन्ही खेळाडूंनी आपली सर्व्हिस राखली होती. मात्र, नागलनं प्रतिस्पर्ध्याची सर्व्हिस 5-4 अशी मोडून काढली आणि हा सेट 6-4 असा जिंकला.

ऑस्ट्रेलियन ओपनची दुसरी फेरी गाठली : दुसऱ्या सेटमध्ये नागलनं आक्रमक बेसलाइन टेनिसचा पर्याय निवडला. याचा फायदा त्याला झाला आणि त्यानं हा सेट 6-2 असा सहज जिंकला. बुब्लिकनं तिसऱ्या सेटमध्ये आपली लय पुन्हा मिळवली. हा सेट टायब्रेकमध्ये गेला. मात्र नागलनं टायब्रेकमध्ये विजय मिळवत सामना आपल्या नावे केला. या विजयासह, ऑस्ट्रेलियन ओपनची दुसरी फेरी गाठणारा नागल हा पाचवा भारतीय पुरुष एकेरी खेळाडू ठरला.
