अथेन्स (ग्रीस) : पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी यांनी ग्रीसमध्ये भारतीय समुदायाला संबोधित करताना मोठे वक्तव्य केले. 'गेल्या नऊ वर्षांत भारतीय गावांमध्ये बांधलेले रस्ते पृथ्वी आणि चंद्र यांच्यातील अंतराएवढे असल्याचा दावा त्यांनी केलाय.

काय म्हणाले मोदी : 'चंद्र हा आजकाल एक चर्चेचा विषय आहे. म्हणून मी चंद्राशी जोडून एक उदाहरण देईन. गेल्या नऊ वर्षांत, भारतातील खेड्यापाड्यात बांधलेल्या रस्त्यांचे एकूण अंतर पृथ्वी ते चंद्रादरम्यानच्या अंतराएवढे आहे', असे मोदी म्हणाले. ते शुक्रवारी ग्रीसमधील अथेन्स कॉन्झर्वेटोअरमध्ये भारतीय समुदायाला संबोधित करत होते. 'चंद्रावर तिरंगा फडकावून भारताने जगाला आपल्या क्षमतेची जाणीव करून दिली', असेही पंतप्रधान मोदींनी आपल्या भाषणात म्हटले. 'हा भगवान शिवाचा श्रावण महिना आहे. या पवित्र महिन्यात देशाने एक नवीन कामगिरी केली. चंद्राच्या दक्षिण ध्रुवावर डार्क झोनमध्ये उतरणारा भारत हा पहिला देश ठरला आहे', असे ते म्हणाले.

शेकडो भारतीय लोकांची उपस्थिती : या कार्यक्रमात भारतीय समुदायाच्या तरुणांनी पंजाबी लोकनृत्य भांगडा सादर केला. त्यानंतर पंतप्रधान मोदी आणि उपस्थितांनी भारतीय राष्ट्रगीत गायले तसंच 'वंदे मातरम' आणि 'भारत माता की जय' च्या घोषणा दिल्या. या कार्यक्रमाला शेकडो भारतीय सदस्यांनी हजेरी लावली होती. जोहान्सबर्ग येथे १५ व्या ब्रिक्स परिषदेला उपस्थित राहिल्यानंतर पंतप्रधान मोदी एक दिवसाच्या ग्रीस दौऱ्यावर गेले होते.
