म्हैसूर - देशभरामध्ये प्लास्टिक वापर बंद करण्यासाठी विविध मोहिमा राबवल्या जात आहेत. शहरातील चामराजेंद्र प्राणी उद्यानामध्ये प्लास्टिकच्या कचऱ्याचे नियोजन करण्यासाठी एक अनोखा मार्ग शोधला आहे. येथील अधिकारी उद्यानाला भेट देणाऱ्या पर्यटकांजवळील प्लास्टिकच्या सामानाला कोड लावतात आणि पर्यटक अधिकाऱ्यांकडे 10 रुपये जमा करतात. परत जाताना आपल्याकडील कोड लावलेले प्लास्टिकचे सामान दाखवल्यावर पर्यटकांना 10 रुपये परत दिले जातात.

उद्यानामध्ये 1 हजार 500 पेक्षा जास्त प्राणी आणि पक्षी आहेत. दररोज हजारो पर्यटक उद्यानाला भेट देतात. सुट्ट्यामध्ये ही संख्या 10 हजारांवर जाते. त्यामुळे उद्यानामध्ये मोठ्या प्रमाणामध्ये कचरा पाहायला मिळतो. प्लास्टिकच्या कचऱ्यावर नियंत्रण आणण्यासाठी ही मोहिम राबवली असल्याचे उद्यानाचे संचालक अजित कुलकर्णी यांनी सांगितले.
देशभरात ठिकठिकाणी घातक अशा प्लास्टिकच्या कचऱ्याचे ढीग पाहायला मिळतात. निसर्गाचा आनंद घेण्यासाठी जाणारे हजारो पर्यटक जिथेतिथे पर्यावरणाकरिता हानीकारक असलेला प्लास्टिक कचरा टाकून वन्यजीवांचे आयुष्य धोक्यात आणत असल्याचे दिसून येत आहे.
