അഫ്‌ഗാനിസ്ഥാനില്‍ സൈന്യവും താലിബാനും തമ്മില്‍ രൂക്ഷമായ ഏറ്റുമുട്ടലാണ് നടക്കുന്നത്. അമേരിക്കന്‍ സഖ്യസേന പിന്‍മാറിയതിനെത്തുടര്‍ന്ന് ഭരണം പിടിച്ചെടുക്കാനായി മെയ് മാസം മുതല്‍ അഫ്‌ഗാന്‍ സൈന്യവുമായി താലിബാന്‍ നടത്തുന്ന പോരാട്ടത്തില്‍ ആയിരക്കണക്കിനാളുകളാണ് മരിച്ചത്. ഒട്ടേറെ കുട്ടികളും ആക്രമണത്തിൽ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. പോരാട്ടത്തില്‍ അഫ്‌ഗാനിലെ പല തന്ത്രപ്രധാന മേഖലകളും നഗരങ്ങളും താലിബാന്‍ പിടിച്ചെടുത്തിരുന്നു.

വടക്കന്‍ മേഖലയില്‍ സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ നിയന്ത്രണത്തിലുള്ള പ്രധാന നഗരമായ മസര്‍ ഇ ഷെരീഫ് ലക്ഷ്യമിട്ടാണ് താലിബാന്‍, അഫ്‌ഗാന്‍ സൈന്യവുമായി ഇപ്പോള്‍ ഏറ്റുമുട്ടുന്നത്. നാലുഭാഗത്തു നിന്നും നഗരം ആക്രമിക്കുകയാണെന്ന് താലിബാന്‍ വക്താവ് കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം വ്യക്തമാക്കിയിരുന്നു. പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ഭാഗത്തുള്ള ഷെബര്‍ഗാനും കുണ്ടൂസും തലോഖാനും കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസങ്ങളില്‍ താലിബാന്‍ പിടിച്ചെടുത്തിരുന്നു.
