നിവിന്‍ പോളിയുടെ പത്ത് വര്‍ഷത്തെ സിനിമാ ജീവിതത്തിനിടെ താരത്തിന്‍റെ അഭിനയമികവിന് ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതല്‍ അംഗീകാരങ്ങള്‍ ലഭിച്ച ചിത്രമായിരുന്നു മൂത്തോന്. വ്യത്യസ്തമായ വേഷപകര്‍ച്ചയിലൂടെ അക്ബറായി നിവിന്‍ സിനിമാപ്രേമികളെ ഞെട്ടിച്ചു. ഇപ്പോള്‍ സിനിമാസ്വാദകന് സന്തോഷം പകരുന്ന ഒരു വാര്‍ത്തയാണ് പുറത്തുവരുന്നത്. ന്യൂയോര്‍ക്ക് ഇന്ത്യന്‍ ഫിലിം ഫെസ്റ്റവലില്‍ മികച്ച സിനിമക്കും നടനുമുള്ളതടക്കം മൂന്ന് പുരസ്കാരങ്ങള്‍ മൂത്തോന് ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. മേളയിലെ മികച്ച ചിത്രമാണ് മൂത്തോന്, മികച്ച നടന്‍ നിവിന്‍ പോളി, മികച്ച ബാലതാരം സഞ്ജന ദിപു. അഭിനേത്രി എന്നതിന് പുറമെ നല്ലൊരു സംവിധായിക കൂടിയായ നടി ഗീതു മോഹന്‍ദാസാണ് മൂത്തോന് സംവിധാനം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത്. തിരക്കഥയും ഗീതുവിന്‍റേത് തന്നെയാണ്. ലയേഴ്സ് ഡയസ് എന്ന സിനിമക്ക് ശേഷം ഗീതു മോഹന്‍ദാസ് ഒരുക്കിയ ചിത്രം കൂടിയാണ് മൂത്തോന്. ചിത്രത്തിലെ ഹിന്ദി സംഭാഷണങ്ങള്‍ ഒരുക്കിയത് ചിത്രത്തിന്‍റെ നിര്‍മാതാക്കളില്‍ ഒരാളായ സംവിധായകന്‍ അനുരാഗ് കശ്യപാണ്.

ഒരാള്‍ അയാളുടെ മൂത്ത സഹോദരനെ തേടി പോകുന്നതാണ് പശ്ചാത്തലം. ലക്ഷദ്വീപിലും മുംബൈയിലുമായാണ് സിനിമ ചിത്രീകരിച്ചത്. മുമ്പും നിരവധി ചലച്ചിത്രമേളകളില്‍ പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിച്ച് മൂത്തോന് ശ്രദ്ധിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. കൊവിഡ് പശ്ചാത്തലത്തില്‍ ഓണ്‍ലൈന്‍ വഴിയാണ് ഇരുപതാം ന്യൂയോര്‍ക്ക് ഇന്ത്യന്‍ ചലച്ചിത്രമേള സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചത്. ഫലപ്രഖ്യാപനവും ഓണ്‍ലൈന്‍ വഴിയായിരുന്നു. ശശാങ്ക് അറോറ, ശോഭിത ധൂലിപാല, റോഷന്‍ മാത്യു, സുജിത് ശങ്കര്‍, മെല്ലിസ രാജു തോമസ് തുടങ്ങിയവരാണ് ചിത്രത്തിലെ മറ്റ് അഭിനേതാക്കള്‍.
