സഹോദരി കാലിഫോർണിയയിൽ വച്ച് ഫൈസര്‍ വാക്സിന്‍റെ രണ്ട് ഡോസും സ്വീകരിച്ചിരുന്നു. കൂടാതെ താനും അമ്മയും കൊവിഷീൽഡ് വാക്സിന്‍റെ രണ്ട് ഡോസും എടുത്തിരുന്നു. അണുബാധ തടയാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ലെങ്കിലും വാക്സിനുകള്‍ക്ക് രോഗത്തിന്‍റെ ആഘാതം കുറയ്ക്കാനാകുമെന്ന് പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്നതായി ശശി തരൂര്‍ കുറിച്ചു.
