न्यूजीलैंड में सेमी-ऑटोमेटिक राइफल पर लगा प्रतिबंध

क्राइस्टचर्च के दो मस्जिदों में हुए हमले के बाद न्यूजीलैंड की सरकार ने असॉल्ट और सेमी-ऑटोमेटिकक राइफलों पर प्रतिबंध लगा दिया है. प्रधानमंत्री जेसिंडा अर्डर्न ने इसकी घोषणा की.

वेलिंग्टन: न्यूजीलैंड की प्रधानमंत्री जेसिंडा अर्डर्न ने गुरुवार को कहा कि क्राइस्टचर्च आतंकी हमले के मद्देनजर देश में असॉल्ट राइफलों और सेमी-ऑटोमेटिकक (अर्ध-स्वचालित) हथियारों की बिक्री पर तत्काल प्रभाव से रोक लगा दी गई है.

उन्होंने कहा, "मैं यह घोषणा कर रही हूं कि न्यूजीलैंड सभी सेमी ऑटोमेटिक हथियारों की बिक्री पर रोक होगी. हम सभी असॉल्ट राइफलों पर भी प्रतिबंध लगाते हैं."

प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि उच्च क्षमता वाली मैगजीन और राइफल से की जाने वाली गोलीबारी को तीव्र बनाने वाले सभी डिवाइस को बेचने पर भी प्रतिबंध होगा.
उन्होंने कहा, ‘कम शब्दों में यह कह सकती हूं कि गत शुक्रवार के आतंकी हमले में इस्तेमाल किए गए हर सेमी-ऑटोमेटिक हथियार पर अब प्रतिबंध रहेगा.’

गौरतलब है कि गत शुक्रवार को दो क्राइस्टचर्च की दो मस्जिदों में की गई गोलीबारी में 50 लोगों की मौत हो गई थी. हमलावर ऑस्ट्रेलियाई नागरिक है, जिसे गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया है.

इस हमले में बांग्लादेश की क्रिकेट टीम बाल-बाल बच गई थी.

While the modification of these guns was illegal it was done easily through a simple online purchase."

We will ban parts that cause a firearm to generate semi-automatic, automatic, or close to automatic gunfire. In short, every semi-automatic weapon used in the terrorist attack on Friday will be banned in this country."

STORYLINE:
New Zealand's prime minister on Thursday said her administration is immediately banning assault rifles, high-capacity magazines and "military style semi-automatic rifles" like the weapons used in last Friday's attacks on two Christchurch mosques.
Jacinda Ardern announced the ban and said it would be followed by legislation to be introduced next month.
She said the man arrested in the attacks had purchased his weapons legally and enhanced their capacity by using 30-round magazines "done easily through a simple online purchase."
"Every semi-automatic weapon used in the terrorist attack on Friday will be banned," the prime minister said.
