कैलिफोर्निया में शुक्रवार की दोपहर एक समुद्र तट पर एक चट्टान गिर गई. जिसके कारण तीन लोगों की मौत हो गई.

कैलिफोर्निया: सैन डिएगो के उत्तर में शुक्रवार की दोपहर एक समुद्र तट पर एक चट्टान गिरने से चार लोग उसकी चपेट में आ गए. जिसकी वजह से महिला समेत तीन लोगों की मौत हो गइ और एक को मामुली चोटें आई हैं.

अधिकारियों का कहना है कि एक दक्षिणी कैलिफोर्निया समुद्र तट चट्टान ढहने से मरने वालों की संख्या बढ़कर तीन हो गई है.शहर ने शुक्रवार रात घोषणा की कि दुर्घटना के बाद अस्पतालों में ले जाए गए तीन में से दो लोगों की मौत की पुष्टि हुई थी. एक चौथे व्यक्ति को केवल मामूली चोटें आई हैं.

"We're having heavy equipment coming into the area to help remove some of the debris in there. At this time we have dog teams down on the beach. They're doing a cursory search and they're trying to find out if we have anybody else left underneath that debris pile. Additionally, the tide is going to be one of the higher tides of the year tonight, so the rescue operations are going to be a little technical, a little difficult."

"We do have concerns. There is an area in there that is still unstable, still unstable. We're concerned about a secondary collapse. He's (a structural engineer) has reassured us that the homes on the bluff are far enough back."

"So high tide just went out not long ago, so a lot of the people when high tide comes in they migrate right up towards the bluff and as it goes away, maybe they'll fill back out through the beach again. I can only imagine that once high tide came up, everybody packed up and got up close to the bluff and as it went out people were just comfortable perhaps and, you know, it's a nice day. You don't think something like this is going to happen."

STORYLINE:

Authorities say the death toll from a Southern California beach cliff collapse has risen to three.

A woman died Friday afternoon when part of the sandstone cliff gave way and fell on a beach in Encinitas, north of San Diego.

The city announced Friday night that two of three people who were taken to hospitals after the accident have now died.
A fourth person had only minor injuries.

No other details were announced, but the area near the bluff remains closed.

The collapse occurred near Grandview Beach.
Authorities said homes perched on the clifftop weren't in danger.
