واضح رہے کہ گوپی ناتھن سنیچر کو دہلی سے پریاگ راج 'ہندوستان کی شہریت ، آئین کو بچانے ، جمہوریت کو بچانے' کے موضوع پر آل انڈیا پیپلز فورم کے زیر اہتمام ایک سیمینار سے خطاب کرنے پہنچے تھے۔
گوپی ناتھن کے ایئرپورٹ سے باہر جانے سے روکنے پر ٹویٹ کرنے کے بعد ان کی نظربندی کا معاملہ سامنے آیا۔
سابق آئی اے ایس افسر نے کہا 'جیسے ہی میں باہر کی جانب نکلے ویسے ہی دس پولیس والے میرے پاس آئے اور مجھ سے میری شناخت پوچھی، جب میں نے انہیں اپنا نام بتایا تو وہ مجھے وی آئی پی روم میں لے گئے اور اس کے بعد مجھے وہاں سے سکیورٹی روم میں لے جایا گیا۔
انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ 'پولیس نے مجھ سے الہ آباد چھوڑنے کے بعد میرے منصوبوں کے بارے میں پوچھا اور جب میں نے انہیں بتایا کہ مجھے سنیچر کی رات کو دہلی سے فلائٹ لینا ہے تو انہوں نے مجھے دہلی واپسی کی پرواز پر روانہ کیا۔
واضح رہے کہ گوپی ناتھن اس وقت سرخیوں میں آئے تھے جب انہوں نے دفعہ 370 کی منسوخی کے بعد لوگوں کے بنیادی حقوق کی پامالی کی بنیاد پر اپنی خدمات سے استعفیٰ دے دیا۔

Prayagraj, Jan 19 (IANS) Kannan Gopinathan, a ormer IAS officer from Kerala, was detained by the city police soon after he had arrived at the airport here, police said on Sunday.
Gopinathan had arrived in the city from Delhi on Saturday to address a two-hour symposium organised by the All India People's Forum on the issue of 'Nagrikta Bachao, Samvidhan Bachao, Loktantra Bachao' (save citizenship, save constitution and save democracy).
The news of his detention came to light after Gopinathan tweeted about his being stopped form moving out of the airport.
"As soon as I came out of the flight and was going towards exit, around ten policemen approached me, asked my identity and when I told them my name, they escorted me to some VIP lounge and thereafter to some security room", the former IAS officer said.
"The police asked me about my further plan, after leaving Allahabad and when I told them that I have to catch a flight for Bokaro from Delhi on Saturday night, they sent me back from the return flight to Delhi."
Gopinathan had hit the headlines when he resigned from his service after the abrogation of Article 370 which he termed "was a violation of the fundamental rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir".
He said that he would be coming to Varanasi on January 20 to participate in another event titled 'Young India Dialogue'.
Gopinathan, after landing in Delhi airport, tweeted: "Independent banana republic of Uttar Pradesh offers free Delhi travel every time".
Meanwhile, the convener of the symposium, Kamal Usri said: "Gopinathan had called me prior to boarding the flight for Allahabad and said that he is on his way and as we were waiting for his arrival to address the symposium, we noticed his two tweets, in one he said 'detained' and in the second he wrote 'at Allahabad airport'. Our volunteers, who had gone to receive him, kept waiting but he was not allowed to come out."
Usri said that he had informed the administration about the event.
"We were not agitating on the roads or causing disturbance, we were expressing your opinion in a close hall, surrounded by four walls and yet the administration detained one of our main speaker," he said.
However, the district police denied having detained Gopinathan.
"We did not detain the former IAS officer, we only advised him that the atmosphere of the city is calm, and he decided to return of his own," said an official.
