It only felt right to be able to do that, because they're artists that I love and admire and I was so honored to be able to share that moment with them."
2. SOUNDBITE (English) Brandi Carlile, Grammy winner, on what went through her head when the audience rose to their feet during her performance:
"I was just so overwhelmed, I was so grateful to the twins and to my family. I got out there and I was so freaking nervous as I'm sure you can imagine I would be. I don't think I've ever done anything of that magnitude, and I looked out into the audience and saw one person standing up looking at me with total peace on her face, and it was Janelle Monae and it really touched me. I lost all my nervousness and just sang it to her, and then everybody else rose to follow her, and I don't think I'll ever forget that."

"This is a huge deal, it's a huge honor. Obviously the country album means a lot to me because that's where my heart is, that's where I grew up. I grew up singing traditional western swing, you know, and there's no way I can get rid of that in me. I love that so much. But to say that something I'm part of is the best out of a year, a year in which was thriving with creativity, uniqueness, bold creators stepping out with something to say. That's like, the weight of that, I don't' think will hit me for a very long time."

Newly minted Grammy winners Brandi Carlile, H.E.R. and Dua Lipa talked backstage at the award show about how much winning means to them, while previous winner Kasey Musgraves basked in the glow of winning best country album for the second time.
H.E.R., who won best R&B album, said the award is confirmation that she's in the right place, adding: "My goal was one nomination and I got five."
Lipa, winner of best new artist, said she felt honored to be among so many female nominees in the best new artist category, which she said is why she gave them a shout-out in her acceptance speech.
Carlile, who won three Grammys ahead of the telecast, said fellow singer Janelle Monae helped her get over her nerves during a powerhouse performance of her song "The Joke" on the Grammy stage.
"I looked out into the audience and saw one person standing up looking at me with total peace on her face, and it was Janelle Monae and it really touched me," she said. "I lost all my nervousness and just sang it to her, and then everybody else rose to follow her, and I don't think I'll ever forget that."
Meanwhile Musgraves, who won four Grammys including album of the year, pointed out that she's particularly proud to win best country album.
"That's where my heart is, that's where I grew up," she said. "I grew up singing traditional western swing, you know, and there's no way I can get rid of that in me. I love that so much.
