STORYLINE:
Three people were killed in Afghanistan on Saturday in a double bomb attack on a ceremony that was being attended by local government officials.
The bombers targeted crowds attending a Farmers' Day celebration in the city of Lashkar Gah, in southern Helmand province.
Mohammad Edris, a local government official, said the governor was present at the ceremony but escaped the bombing unharmed.
A dozen people were injured in the attack.
It was unclear whether any public officials were among the casualties.
No one immediately claimed the attack, but the Taliban control much of the province and frequently target government officials and the security forces.
