"I affirmed our commitment to (UN Security Council Resolution) 1701 and our commitment to preserve calm in southern Lebanon and we demanded that repeated Israeli aggressions be stopped, and I reminded the secretary (Pompeo) that they are about 1,800 (violations) a year and I also affirmed Lebanon's natural right to defend itself."

4. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Gebran Bassil, Lebanese Foreign Minister:
"Lebanon cannot take it any more (hosting more Syrian refugees) and for that reason we have asked for support, the support for the safe and honourable return without it being a forced return. 6. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Gebran Bassil, Lebanese Foreign Minister:
"Of course, we discussed Hezbollah and everyone from his point of view and stance, from our side we affirmed that Hezbollah for us is a Lebanese group that is not terrorist and its legislators were elected by the Lebanese people and with major popular support, and naming it a terrorist group is a matter that goes to the country that does not concern Lebanon."
7. Wide of press news conference
STORYLINE :
Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil on Friday rejected the idea that that Hezbollah is a terrorist organisation as he held a news conference with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
Bassil said Hezbollah was "a Lebanese group that is not a terrorist organisation and was elected by the people".
His comments were in strong contrast to Pompeo's, who moments later blasted Hezbollah and promised continued US pressure on the group.
Pompeo called on the Lebanese people to stand up to the Iran-backed militant group, claiming it was "committed to spreading destruction".
