உலக விளையாட்டின் சிறந்த வீராங்கனைக்கான விருதிற்கு இந்திய மகளிர் ஹாக்கி அணியின் கேப்டன் ராணி ராம்பால் பரிந்துரை செய்யப்பட்டிருந்தார். இந்த பரிந்துரையில் உலகம் முழுவதும் இருந்து 25 வீரர்கள் தேர்வு செய்யப்பட்டனர். இதற்கான வாக்கெடுப்பு கடந்த 20 நாள்களாக இணையத்தில் நடந்தது. அதற்கான முடிவு நேற்று அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.
அதில் மொத்தம் பதிவான 705,610 வாக்குகளில் 199,4777 வாக்குகள் பெற்று இந்திய ஹாக்கி அணியின் ராணி ராம்பால் வெற்றிபெற்றார். இதனால் உலக விளையாட்டின் சிறந்த வீராங்கனை விருதைக் கைப்பற்றிய முதல் ஹாக்கி வீராங்கனை என்ற பெருமையையும் பெற்றுள்ளார்.
கடந்த ஆண்டு எஃப்ஐஹெச் தொடரின் இறுதிப் போட்டியில் இந்திய அணி வெற்றிபெற்றது. அந்தத் தொடரின் சிறந்த வீராங்கனையாக ராணி ராம்பால் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டார். ராணி ராம்பாலின் தலைமையில் இந்திய மகளிர் ஹாக்கி அணி மூன்றாவது முறையாக ஒலிம்பிக் போட்டிகளுக்கு தகுதிபெற்றது.
