ହାଇଦ୍ରାବାଦ: ସବୁ ଚର୍ଚ୍ଚ ଭଳି ଏଠାରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କରାଯାଏ, କିନ୍ତୁ ଉର୍ଦ୍ଦୁ ଭାଷାରେ । ଅଧିକାଂଶ ଚର୍ଚ୍ଚରେ ହିନ୍ଦୀ, ଇଂରାଜୀ ଏବଂ ଆଞ୍ଚଳିକ ଭାଷାରେ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କରାଯାଉଥିବା ଆମେ ଶୁଣିଛେ । ହେଲେ ହାଇଦ୍ରାବାଦ ଆବିଡ୍ସରେ ଏମିତି ଏକ ଚର୍ଚ୍ଚ ଅଛି ଯେଉଁଠି ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ରବିବାର ସକାଳ 10 ଟାରୁ 12 ଟା ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଉର୍ଦ୍ଦୁ ଭାଷାରେ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କରାଯାଏ । ଏଠାରେ ତାମିଲ, ମାଲାୟାଲାମ, ନେପାଳୀ, ମରାଠୀ ଏବଂ ଅନ୍ୟ ଇସାଇ ଧର୍ମାଲମ୍ବୀ ଉର୍ଦ୍ଦୁରେ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କୁ ଦୀର୍ଘ 5 ପୀଢିଧରି ପୂଜା କରି ଆସୁଛନ୍ତି ।
ହାଇଦ୍ରାବାଦରେ ପ୍ରଥମ ଉର୍ଦ୍ଦୁ ଚର୍ଚ୍ଚ ପ୍ରଥମ ଉର୍ଦ୍ଦୁ ଚର୍ଚ୍ଚ ଭାବରେ ସାରା ଭାରତରେ ପରିଚିତ ଏସ୍.ଟି. ଲ୍ୟୁକ୍ସ ହିନ୍ଦୁସ୍ଥାନୀ ଚର୍ଚ୍ଚ । ଏହାକୁ ନିର୍ମାଣ ପାଇଁ ନିଜାମ ହିନ୍ଦୁସ୍ଥାନୀ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟିଆନ ମିସନାରୀ ସୋସାଇଟିକୁ ଦେଢ ଏକର ଜମି ଦାନ କରିଥିଲେ । ଉର୍ଦ୍ଦୁ ପୂର୍ବରୁ କେବଳ ଅଫିସିଆଲ ଲାଙ୍ଗୁଏଜ ଥିବା ବେଳେ ପରବର୍ତ୍ତୀ ମୁହୂର୍ତ୍ତରେ ବାଇବେଲକୁ ଉର୍ଦ୍ଦୁ ଏବଂ ଅନ୍ୟ ଭାରତୀୟ ଭାଷାରେ ଅନୁବାଦ ପାଇଁ ସ୍ବୀକୃତି ପ୍ରଦାନ କରାଯାଇଥିଲା । ଉର୍ଦ୍ଦୁ ଭାଷାରେ ବାଇବେଲ ହେବାପରେ ବେଶ ଖୁସିଥିଲେ ଇସାଇ ମୁସଲମାନ । ଧର୍ମକୁ ନେଇ କେତେକ ଚର୍ଚ୍ଚରେ ଦେଖା ଦେଇଥିଲା ବିବାଦ । ପରେ ବହୁଳ ମାତ୍ରାରେ ଇସାଇ ମୁସଲମାନ ପାକିସ୍ତାନ ଏବଂ ବାଂଲାଦେଶକୁ ଚାଲିଯାଇଥିଲେ । ଏହାଦ୍ବାରା ଏହି ଚର୍ଚ୍ଚ ଧିରେଧିରେ ଇତିହାସ ପୃଷ୍ଠାରୁ ବିଲୁପ୍ତ ହୋଇଗଲା ।
ସମୟ ବଦଳିବା ସହ ହସି ହଠିଛି ଏହି ପୁରାତ୍ତନ କୀର୍ତ୍ତିରାଜି । ବାହାର ଦେଶର ଇସାଇ ଧର୍ମାଲମ୍ବୀ ଏଠାକୁ ଆସି ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା ଆରମ୍ଭ କରିବା ପରେ ଆଖପାଖରେ ଥିବା ଇସାଇଙ୍କ ଭିଡ ଦେଖିବାକୁ ମିଳୁଛି ।

Worship of Jesus in Urdu
In Hyderabad, which stands as a testimony for religious harmony, we can find several historical structures like Charminar, Makka Masjid, Salarjung Museum, Golconda Fort, Falaknuma Palace. But, there is yet another hundred-year old rare landmark hidden in the annalsof the city – ;Hindustani Church;! This place of worship was built for the Muslims converted to Christianity and surprisingly, Jesus is worshipped here in Urdu.

A Sunday morning visit to Abids revealed the existence of St Luke’s Hindustani Church, located opposite to the District Collector’s Office. Explaining the uniqueness of this place, Rev. Herald said, “Hindustani Christian Missionary Society built this Church in 1.5-acre land donated by the Nizam. Since Urdu was the official language those days, the Society got the Bible translated into Urdu and other Indian languages. The Urdu Bible was very handy to the Muslimsconverted to Christianity of that time and the Church was bustling with religious activity. However, subsequently, a large number of the Christian Muslims migrated to Pakistan and Bangladesh (the then East Pakistan) due to partition and this Church slowly faded into history.
With the passage of time, many Christians from other countries who were baptized and some from northern States started visiting this Church. Some became pastors and the prayers were resumed here. Reverend Father HeraldChristian, who looks after the church asserts that prayer has nothing to do with the language.”

Every Sunday mass is conducted in Urdu from 10.00 AM to 12.00 noon in this Church. Many Tamilian, Malayalee, Nepalese, Marathas and other Christians are happy that they have been worshipping here for five generations in Urdu.
