कोझीकोड - एअर इंडियाच्या बोईंग ७३७ या विमानाचा शुक्रवारी केरळमध्ये अपघात झाला. विमान दुबईहून करिपूर आंतरराष्ट्रीय विमानतळावर येत होते. विमानतळावर लँडिंग करत असताना विमानाचा अपघात झाला. विमानात १९१ प्रवासी होते. या अपघातात मुख्य पायलटसह १९ जणांचा मृत्यू झाला आहे, तर १२३ जणांवर विविध रुग्णालयात उपचार सुरू आहेत. यातील अनेक जण गंभीर जखमी आहे. या विमान अपघातात जखमी झालेल्यांसाठी भारतीय संघाचा कर्णधार विराट कोहली, रोहित शर्मा, सचिन तेंडुलकरसह अन्य खेळाडूंनी प्रार्थना केली आहे.

दुबईहून निघालेल्या एअर इंडियाच्या फ्लाइट आयएक्स -१३४४, B७३७ हे प्रवासी विमान कालीकतच्या विमानतळावर उतरणार होते. या टेबलटॉप धावपट्टीवर अंतिम लँडिंगआधी दोन वेळा विमान उतरण्याचा प्रयत्न झाल्याचे डीजीसीएच्या वरिष्ठ अन्वेषकांनी सांगितले. वैमानिकांनी २८ रन-वे वर विमान लँड करण्याचा प्रयत्न केला मात्र त्यावेळी मुसळधार पाऊस सुरू होता. तसेच वारा विमानाच्या दिशेने वाहत असल्यामुळे धावपट्टीचा अचूक अंदाज न आल्याने संबंधित दुर्घटना घडल्याचे तपास अधिकाऱ्यांनी सांगितले.
