वॉशिंग्टन डी. सी. - अमेरिकन अंतराळ संशोधन संस्था (नासा) पुन्हा एकदा मंगळ मोहिमेसाठी सज्ज झाली आहे. 2020 च्या उन्हाळ्यामध्ये नासा आपली 'मार्स 2020' ही मोहिम पुर्णत्त्वास नेणार आहे. नासाने ट्विट करून याबाबत माहिती दिली.

पॅसाडना येथील नासाच्या 'जेट प्रोपल्शन लॅबोरेटरी' मध्ये तयार करण्यात आलेले 'मार्स 2020' हे रोव्हर मंगळावर प्राचीन काळात जीवसृष्टी होती का? याचा शोध घेणार आहे. या पुर्वी 2004 मध्ये नासाने 'क्युरिऑसीटी' ही मंगळमोहिम यशस्वी केली आहे. 'क्युरिऑसिटी'चे दोन रोव्हर 'स्पिरीट' आणि 'अपॉर्च्युनिटी' यांनी मंगळावर एकेकाळी पाणी अस्तित्त्वात होते, याचे पुरावे शोधले आहेत.

'मार्स 2020' हे क्युरिऑसीटीपेक्षा पाच इंचांनी लांब असून त्याचे वजनही(1 हजार 25 किलो) जास्त आहे. या रोव्हरला 23 अतिउच्च क्षमतेचे कलर लेन्स असलेले कॅमेरे बसवण्यात आले आहेत. या व्यतिरिक्त दोन मायक्रोफोनची व्यवस्था यामध्ये केली आहे, अशी माहिती नासाच्या प्रवक्त्यांनी दिली.
