പുതിയമുഖം, എന്ന് നിന്‍റെ മൊയ്തീന്‍ തുടങ്ങി അനേകം മലയാള സിനിമകളുടെ ഭാഗമായ നടന്‍ ബാലയുടെ അച്ഛന്‍ ഡോ.ജയകുമാര്‍ അന്തരിച്ചു. ബാല തന്നെയാണ് ഇക്കാര്യ സോഷ്യല്‍ മീഡിയ വഴി അറിയിച്ചത്. 72 വയസായിരുന്നു. വാര്‍ധക്യ സഹജമായ അസുഖങ്ങളെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് ജയകുമാര്‍ ചികിത്സയിലായിരുന്നു. വികാര നിര്‍ഭരമായ കുറിപ്പാണ് അച്ഛന്‍റെ മരണ വാര്‍ത്തയോടൊപ്പം ബാല പങ്കുവെച്ചത്.
'ഞാന്‍ ഒരു നടനാകാന്‍ ഒരു കാരണം എന്‍റെ പിതാവാണ്. എന്നിലെ കലയെ തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞത് അച്ഛനാണ്. അദ്ദേഹം മരിക്കുന്ന നിമിഷത്തിന് തൊട്ടുമുമ്പും അച്ഛന്‍റെ ആരോഗ്യത്തെക്കുറിച്ച്‌ അന്വേഷിക്കുകയും പ്രാര്‍ഥിക്കുകയും ചെയ്‌ത എന്‍റെ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട എല്ലാവരോടും ആത്മാര്‍ത്ഥമായ നന്ദി രേഖപ്പെടുത്തു...' ബാല കുറിച്ചു.
