വാഷിങ്ടൺ: ഊര്‍ജ്ജരംഗത്ത് ശക്തമായ മുന്നേറ്റം നടത്തുന്നതിന്‍റെ ഭാഗമായി ദ്രവീകൃത പ്രകൃതിവാതകം വാങ്ങാൻ ഇന്ത്യ- അമേരിക്ക ധാരണാപത്രം ഒപ്പുവച്ചു. 50 ലക്ഷം ടണ്‍ എല്‍.എന്‍.ജി വാങ്ങാന്‍ പെട്രോനെറ്റും യു.എസ് കമ്പനിയായ ടെല്ലൂറിയനും തമ്മിലാണ് ധാരണയായത്. അമേരിക്കയിലെ ഹൂസ്റ്റണിലാണ് പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി നരേന്ദ്രമോദിയുടെ സാന്നിധ്യത്തില്‍ ധാരണാപത്രം ഒപ്പുവെച്ചത്. അന്തിമ കരാര്‍ മാര്‍ച്ച് 31നകം ഒപ്പുവക്കും.
അമേരിക്കന്‍ ഊര്‍ജമേഖലയിലെ വന്‍കിട കമ്പനിമേധാവികളുമായുള്ള കൂടിക്കാഴ്‌ചയോടെയാണ് പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയുടെ അമേരിക്ക സന്ദര്‍ശനത്തിന് ഔദ്യോഗിക തുടക്കമായത്. അമേരിക്കയിലെ 16 വന്‍കിട എണ്ണക്കമ്പനികളുടെ മേധാവികളാണ് യോഗത്തില്‍ പങ്കെടുത്തത്. ഊർജ്ജ സുരക്ഷക്കായി ഒരുമിച്ച് പ്രവർത്തിക്കാനും പരസ്‌പര നിക്ഷേപ അവസരങ്ങൾ വികസിപ്പിക്കാനുമുള്ള ചര്‍ച്ചകളാണ് നടന്നതെന്ന് വിദേശകാര്യമന്ത്രാലയം അറിയിച്ചു. ഹൂസ്റ്റണില്‍ ഇന്ന് നടക്കുന്ന 'ഹൗഡി മോദി' പരിപാടിയിൽ അമേരിക്കയിലെ അമ്പതിനായിരത്തോളം ഇന്ത്യന്‍ പ്രവാസികളെ മോദി അഭിസംബോധന ചെയ്യും. അമേരിക്കന്‍ പ്രസിഡന്‍റ് ഡോണള്‍ഡ് ട്രംപും പരിപാടിയില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കും.
