ಭಾರತದ ಪರ ಮೊದಲ ಬಾರಿಗೆ ಸರಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿ 400ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ರನ್​ ಗಳಿಸಿದ್ದ ಹಾಗೂ 49ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ರನ್ ​ಗಳಿಸಿದ ದಾಖಲೆ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದ ಮಾಜಿ ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟಿಗ ಮಾಧವ್​ ಆಪ್ಟೆ ಕೊನೆಯುಸಿರೆಳೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಮುಂಬೈ: ಭಾರತದ ಮಾಜಿ ಆರಂಭಿಕ ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟಿಗ ಮಾಧವ್​ ಆಪ್ಟೆ ಇಂದು ಮುಂಬೈನ ಬ್ರೀಚ್​ ಕ್ಯಾಂಡಿ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಧನರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

1950ರ ದಶಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತ ತಂಡದ ಆರಂಭಿಕರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಆಪ್ಟೆ ಟೀಂ ಇಂಡಿಯಾ ಪರ 7 ಟೆಸ್ಟ್​ ಪಂದ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಸಿದ್ದು, 49.17 ರ ಬ್ಯಾಟಿಂಗ್​ ಸರಾಸರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ 542 ರನ್​ಗಳಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ 2 ಶತಕ ಹಾಗೂ 3 ಅರ್ಧ ಶತಕದ ಸೇರಿದ್ದವು.

ವೆಸ್ಟ್​ ಇಂಡೀಸ್​ ವಿರುದ್ಧದ ಸರಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿ 460 ರನ್ ​ಗಳಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಭಾರತದ ಪರ ಮೊದಲ ಬಾರಿದ ಸರಣಿಯೊಂದರಲ್ಲಿ 400 ರ ಗಡಿ ದಾಟಿದ ಬ್ಯಾಟ್ಸ್​ಮನ್​ ಎನಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. ಅದೊಂದು ಸರಣಿ ನಂತರ ದೇಶಿ ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟ್​ನಲ್ಲೂ ಅದ್ಭುತ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ ನೀಡಿದ್ದರು. ಆದಾಗ್ಯೂ ಅವರನ್ನು ಭಾರತ ತಂಡಕ್ಕೆ ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡದಿರುವುದು ಇಂದಿಗೂ ನಿಗೂಢವಾಗಿಯೇ ಉಳಿದುಕೊಂಡಿದೆ.
