ಪ್ರಪಂಚದ ಅತಿದೊಡ್ಡ ಕ್ರೀಡಾಕೂಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾದ ಕಾಮನ್‌ವೆಲ್ತ್ ಕ್ರೀಡಾಕೂಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕಳೆದ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಇಂಗ್ಲೆಂಡ್‌ನ ಬರ್ಮಿಂಗ್‌ಹ್ಯಾಮ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಅದ್ಧೂರಿ ಚಾಲನೆ ದೊರೆಯಿತು.

ಬರ್ಮಿಂಗ್​​ಹ್ಯಾಮ್: 'ಮಿನಿ ಒಲಿಂಪಿಕ್ಸ್' ಎಂದೇ ಹೆಸರಾಗಿರುವ ಕಾಮನ್‌ವೆಲ್ತ್ ಕ್ರೀಡಾಕೂಟದ 22ನೇ ಆವೃತ್ತಿ ಗುರುವಾರದಿಂದ ಆರಂಭವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಂಗ್ಲೆಂಡ್‌ನ ಬರ್ಮಿಂಗ್‌ಹ್ಯಾಮ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅಲೆಕ್ಸಾಂಡರ್ ಸ್ಟೇಡಿಯಂನಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಕಾಲಮಾನ ರಾತ್ರಿ 11:30ಕ್ಕೆ ಸುಮಾರು 30,000 ಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷಕರ ನಡುವೆ ಕ್ರೀಡಾಕೂಟಕ್ಕೆ ವರ್ಣರಂಜಿತ ಚಾಲನೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿತು.

ಏನಿದು ಕಾಮನ್‌ವೆಲ್ತ್ ಗೇಮ್ಸ್? ಕಾಮನ್‌ವೆಲ್ತ್ ಕ್ರೀಡಾಕೂಟವು ಬಹು-ಕ್ರೀಡಾ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿ ನಾಲ್ಕು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಗೊಮ್ಮೆ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಕಾಮನ್​ವೆಲ್ತ್ ಒಕ್ಕೂಟ ಸದಸ್ಯ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಗಳು ಮಾತ್ರ ಈ ಕ್ರೀಡಾಕೂಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತವೆ. ಸದ್ಯ ಕಾಮನ್​ವೆಲ್ತ್​ ಒಕ್ಕೂಟದಲ್ಲಿ 56 ಸದಸ್ಯ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಗಳಿವೆ. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಒಲಿಂಪಿಕ್ಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕವಾಗಿ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿಸದ ಇತರ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯಗಳಿಗೂ ಈ ಕ್ರೀಡಾಕೂಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಲು ಅವಕಾಶ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಅದರಂತೆ ಈ ಬಾರಿ 72 ಧ್ವಜಗಳ ಅಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ 5 ಸಾವಿರಕ್ಕೂ ಅಧಿಕ ಕ್ರೀಡಾಪಟುಗಳು ಪದಕಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿಸಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಜು.28 ರಿಂದ ಶುರುವಾಗಲಿರುವ ಗೇಮ್ಸ್​ಗೆ ಆ.8ರಂದು ತೆರೆಬೀಳಲಿದೆ. ಭಾರತದಿಂದ 214 ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿಗಳು ಕಣಕ್ಕಿಳಿಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. 2018ರ ಕಾಮನ್​ವೆಲ್ತ್ ಗೇಮ್ಸ್​ನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಟ್ಟು 66 ಪದಕ ಗೆದ್ದಿದ್ದ ಭಾರತ ಈ ಬಾರಿ ಕೂಡ ಪದಕ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಟಾಪ್- 5ನಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯಿದೆ.
