ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಬಂಗಾಳ ವಿಧಾನಸಭೆ ಚುನಾವಣೆ ವೇಳೆ ಮನೋಜ್ ತಿವಾರಿ ಶಿಬಪುರ್​ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಿಂದ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರು. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕಣಕ್ಕಿಳಿದಿದ್ದ ಬಿಜೆಪಿಯ ರತಿನ್​ ಚಕ್ರವರ್ತಿ ವಿರುದ್ಧ 32 ಸಾವಿರಕ್ಕೂ ಅಧಿಕ ಮತ ಪಡೆದು ಜಯಗಳಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಇದರ ಬೆನ್ನಲ್ಲೇ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕ್ರೀಡಾ ಸಚಿವ ಸ್ಥಾನ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದೆ.
