ಮೆಟ್ರೋ ಕಾಮಗಾರಿಗಾಗಿ ಅರೆ ಕಾಲೊನಿಯಲ್ಲಿನ 2,600 ಮರಗಳನ್ನ ಕಡಿಯಲು ಮುಂಬೈ ಮೆಟ್ರೋ ಕಾರ್ಪೋರೇಷನ್ ಮುಂದಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಪರಿಸರ ಪ್ರೇಮಿಗಳಿಂದ ಭಾರೀ ವಿರೋಧ ವ್ಯಕ್ತವಾಗಿತ್ತು ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮರಗಳ ಮಾರಣ ಹೋಮ ಸರಿಯಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಆಕ್ರೋಶ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದರು.

ಮರಗಳನ್ನ ಕಡಿಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ವಿರೋಧ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿ ಬಾಂಬೆ ಹೈಕೋರ್ಟ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ದಾವೆ ಹೂಡಲಾಗಿತ್ತು, ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ವಿಚಾರಣೆ ನಡೆಸಿದ್ದ ಕೋರ್ಟ್, ಮರ ಕಡಿಯಲು ಮುಂದಾಗಿರುವ ಅರೆ ಕಾಲೊನಿ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಪ್ರದೇಶವಲ್ಲ ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಮರ ಕಡಿಯುವುದನ್ನ ತಡೆಯಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅರ್ಜಿಯನ್ನ ವಜಾ ಗೊಳಿಸಿತ್ತು.
ಹೈಕೋರ್ಟ್ ಅರ್ಜಿಯನ್ನ ವಜಾ ಗೊಳಿಸಿದ ನಂತರ ಮುಂಬೈ ಮೆಟ್ರೋ ಕಾರ್ಪೋರೇಷನ್ ರಾತ್ರೋ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಮರಗಳನ್ನ ಕಡಿಯಲು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದೆ. ವಿಷಯ ತಿಳಿದ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯರು ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನೆ ನಡೆಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಒಟ್ಟು 200 ಮರಗಳನ್ನ ಕಡಿಯಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಬಿಗಿ ಭದ್ರತೆ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗಿದೆ.
