ನವದೆಹಲಿ: ಹಾಕಿಪಟು ಮತ್ತು ಪದ್ಮಶ್ರೀ ಬಲ್ಬೀರ್​​ ಸಿಂಗ್​ (95) ಅವರ ನಿಧನಕ್ಕೆ ಗೃಹ ಸಚಿವ ಅಮಿತ್​​ ಶಾ ತೀವ್ರ ಸಂತಾಪ ಸೂಚಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಬಲ್ಬೀರ್​​ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಅವರು 1948ರ ಲಂಡನ್‌ ಒಲಿಂಪಿಕ್ಸ್‌, 1952ರ ಹೆಲ್ಸಿಂಕಿ ಒಲಿಂಪಿಕ್ಸ್‌ ಮತ್ತು 1956ರ ಮೆಲ್ಬೋರ್ನ್‌ ಒಲಿಂಪಿಕ್ಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿನ್ನ ಗೆದ್ದ ಭಾರತ ತಂಡದ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ತೀವ್ರ ಉಸಿರಾಟದ ತೊಂದರೆ, ಹೃದಯಾಘಾತಕ್ಕೂ ಒಳಗಾಗಿದ್ದ ಸಿಂಗ್​ ಅವರು, ಮೇ 18ರಂದು ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗೆ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ, ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಸ್ಪಂದಿಸದೇ ಇಂದು ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ 6.30ರ ಸುಮಾರಿಗೆ ಮೊಹಾಲಿಯ ಫೋರ್ಟಿಸ್‌ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೃತಪಟ್ಟರು.
