ಆದ್ರೆ ಸ್ಥಳಿಯರು ಹೇಳುಪ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಸುರೇಂದ್ರ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಸ್ಮೃತಿ ಇರಾನಿ ಬೆಂಬಲಿಗಿಗನಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಬಿಜೆಪಿ ಪರ ಭರ್ಜರಿ ಪ್ರಚಾರ ನಡೆಸಿದ್ದರು. ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದಲೇ ಹತ್ಯೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಆರೋಪಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಉತ್ತರ ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಅಮೇಠಿ ಕ್ಷೆತ್ರ ಹೈ ವೋಲ್ಟೇಜ್​ ಕದನಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಎಐಸಿಸಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ರಾಹುಲ್​ ಗಾಂಧಿ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸಚಿವೆ ಸೃತಿ ಇರಾನಿ ರಾಹುಲ್​ ಗಾಂಧಿಯನ್ನ ಸೋಲಿಸಿ ಭರ್ಜರಿ ಜಯಗಳಿಸಿದ್ದರು.
