ಭಾರತೀಯ ವಾಯುಪಡೆ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 8ರಂದು ಪ್ರತಿವರ್ಷ ಆಚರಣೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಬ್ರಿಟಿಷರು 1932ರಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಯುಪಡೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಇಂದಿಗೆ 89ನೇ ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ವಾಯುಪಡೆ ಕಾಲಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದು, ಭಾರತದೆಲ್ಲೆಡೆ ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಉತ್ತರ ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಹಿಂಡನ್ ಏರ್ಬೇಸ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತೀ ವರ್ಷದಂತೆ ಈ ಬಾರಿಯೂ ಸಂಭ್ರಮ ಮನೆ ಮಾಡಿದೆ.
ಬ್ರಿಟಿಷರು ತಾವು ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ವಾಯುಪಡೆಯನ್ನು ರಾಯಲ್ ಇಂಡಿಯನ್ ಏರ್ಫೋರ್ಸ್ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಭಾರತಕ್ಕೆ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ ಸಿಕ್ಕ ನಂತರ ರಾಯಲ್ ಎಂಬ ಪದವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಿ ಕೇವಲ ಇಂಡಿಯನ್ ಏರ್ಫೋರ್ಸ್ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಯಿತು.
ವಾಯುಪಡೆಗೆ ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗೆ ನೂತನ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರ ನೇಮಕವಾಗಿದೆ. ಏರ್ ಚೀಫ್ ಮಾರ್ಷಲ್ ಆಗಿದ್ದ ರಾಕೇಶ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ನಿವೃತ್ತಿಯಾದ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ ವಿವೇಕ್ ರಾಮ್ ಚೌಧರಿ ಈ ಸ್ಥಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರು ಅಧಿಕಾರ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಎಂಟು ದಿನದಲ್ಲೇ ವಾಯುಪಡೆ ದಿನ ಆಚರಣೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಡಬಲ್ ಸಂಭ್ರಮ ಮೂಡಿಸಿದೆ.
ಈ ಬಾರಿಯ ಘೋಷವಾಕ್ಯ ಘೋಷಣೆಯಾಗಿಲ್ಲ
ಪ್ರತಿ ಬಾರಿಯೂ ವಾಯುಪಡೆ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಆಚರಣೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾದರೆ ಘೋಷ ವಾಕ್ಯವೊಂದನ್ನು ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಈ ಬಾರಿ ಇನ್ನೂ ಘೋಷವಾಕ್ಯ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಯಾಗಿಲ್ಲ. 2020ರಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಯುಪಡೆಯು ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಯ ಅವಿರತ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ತ್ಯಾಗಗಳು ಎಂಬ ಘೋಷ ವಾಕ್ಯವಿತ್ತು. 2019ರಲ್ಲಿ 'ನಿಮ್ಮ ವಾಯುಪಡೆ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಿ' ಎಂಬ ಘೋಷವಾಕ್ಯ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಈ ಬಾರಿಯ ಘೋಷವಾಕ್ಯ ಇನ್ನೂ ಘೋಷಣೆಯಾಗಿಲ್ಲ.
