पूर्व भारतीय गोलकीपर भास्कर मैती का निधन

भारत के पूर्व गोलकीपर भास्कर मैती का नवी मुंबई अस्पताल में बुधवार को मस्तिष्क रक्तस्राव के कारण निधन हो गया. वह 67 वर्ष के थे. मैती के परिवार में उनकी पत्नी, एक बेटा और एक बेटी है.

मुंबई : भारत के पूर्व गोलकीपर भास्कर मैती ने बैंकाक 1978 एशियाई खेलों के दौरान इराक के खिलाफ भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व किया था. वो संतोष ट्रॉफी में महाराष्ट्र के लिए 1975 से 1979 तक खेले थे. वो 1974 से 1980 तक मफतलाल स्पोर्ट्स क्लब और 1981 से 1982 तक राष्ट्रीय कैमिकल्स एवं फर्टीलाइजर्स (आरसीएफ) की ओर से खेले थे.

उनके पारिवारिक मित्र शशिकांत प्रसाद ने एक समाचार एजेंसी से कहा, ''उनका (मैती) वाशी में एमजीएम अस्पताल में शाम करीब छह बजे मस्तिष्क रक्तस्राव के बाद निधन हो गया.''

संन्यास के बाद वो आरसीएफ फुटबॉल टीम के कोच बन गए थे. अखिल भारतीय फुटबॉल महासंघ के अध्यक्ष प्रफुल्ल पटेल ने मैती के निधन पर दुख प्रकट किया. उन्होंने शोक संदेश में कहा, ''भास्कर मैती के निधन की खबर सुनकर बहुत दुख हुआ. उनका योगदान काफी महत्वपूर्ण रहा.''
