નવી દિલ્હીઃ પ્રખ્યાત શાસ્ત્રીય ગાયક પંડિત જસરાજનું અમેરિકાના ન્યૂજર્સીમાં હાર્ટ એટેકના કારણે નિધન થયું છે. તેમની ઉંમર 90 વર્ષની હતી. પંડિત જસરાજનો જન્મ 28 જાન્યુઆરી 1930માં થયો હતો.
પંડિત જસરાજન જ્યારે ચાર વર્ષના હતા ત્યારે તેમના પિતા પંડિત મોતિરામનું નિધન થયું હતું. ત્યારબાદ તેમનું પાલન પોષણ તેમના મોટા ભાઇ પંડિત મણિરામે કર્યું હતું.
આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય ખગોળીય સંઘ (IAU) દ્વારા 11 નવેમ્બર 2006માં શોધવામાં આવેલા ‘હીન ગ્રહ 2006 VP32 (સંખ્યા- 300128)’ને પંડિત જસરાજના સન્માનમાં પંડિત જસરાજનું નામ આપવામાં આવ્યું હતું.
વડાપ્રધાન મોદીએ પંડિત જસરાજના નિધન પર દુખ વ્યક્ત કર્યું છે. આ સાથે જ મોદીએ તેમના ટ્વીટર પર તેમની એક તસવીર શેર કરી છે.

જસરાજે સંગીતની દુનિયમાં 80 વર્ષથી વધારેનો પ્રવાસ ખેડ્યો અને ઘણા પુરસ્કાર મેળવ્યા હતા. શાસ્ત્રીય અને અર્ધ-શાસ્ત્રીય સ્વર માટે તેમના પ્રદર્શનનો આલ્બમ પણ બનાવવામાં આવ્યો છે.
જસરાજે ભારત, કેનેડા અને અમેરિકામાં સંગીતની શિક્ષા આપી છે. આજે તેમના ઘણા શિષ્યો મશહૂર સંગીરકાર પણ બન્યા છે.
