پلاسٹک سے بنے چرخے کا افتتاح مہاتما گاندھی کے 150 ویں یوم پیدائش کے موقع پر کیا گیا۔ اس پروگرام میں مہمان خصوصی کے طور پر مرکزی کابینہ کی وزیر برائے خواتین و اطفال اور ٹیکسٹائل اسمرتی زوبین ایرانی نے شرکت کی۔ جس میں گوتم بودھ نگر کے رکن پارلیمنٹ ڈاکٹر مہیش شرما، نوئیڈا کے ایم ایل اے پنکج سنگھ اور نوئیڈا اتھارٹی کے چیف ایگزیکٹو آفیسر ریتو مہیشوری بھی شریک تھے۔

This is the first time that such a big Charkha has been made, and it was inaugurated on October 2. It was on the same day that it received recognition by the India Book of Records. Today, it has been acknowleged by the Asia Book of Awards. Around 1,300 kg of plastic waste has been used on this Charkha. The purpose of this initiative is to spread awareness on the harmful effects of single-use plastic, and inspire people to recycle plastic and make better use of it.
